Velodyne Acoustics has appointed Audio Visual Revolution Pty Ltd (AVR) as its exclusive Australian distributor, marking a new chapter for the Californian-born subwoofer specialist as it looks to expand its international presence.

Founded in 1983 by engineer David Hall, Velodyne made its name with groundbreaking High Gain Servo subwoofers that used real-time cone motion correction technology to set new standards for bass accuracy. The company was acquired in 2019 by German distributor Audio Reference GmbH, and under CEO Mansour Mamaghani, has continued to focus exclusively on precision-engineered subwoofers.

AVR, meanwhile, has steadily grown its portfolio of premium audio brands in Australia, with the addition of Velodyne reinforcing its reputation as a distributor of high-performance, internationally respected products.

Raffi Keverian, Managing Director of Audio Visual Revolution, told StereoNET that the partnership is a natural alignment:

We are thrilled to welcome Velodyne Acoustics to the AVR family. Velodyne is a name that commands respect in the world of high-fidelity audio, particularly for those who understand the art of truly immersive low-frequency performance. Their pursuit of technical excellence and design elegance fits perfectly with the calibre of products we represent. We’re excited to introduce their incredible subwoofers to Australian listeners.

For Mansour Mamaghani, the appointment of AVR brings a trusted partner in a strategically important market:

Partnering with AVR is a natural fit for Velodyne. Their distribution reach, technical expertise, and dedication to brand development make them the ideal representative for our subwoofers in Australia. We believe their local insights and marketing capability will help bring Velodyne’s signature sound to a broader audience than ever before.

The announcement is set to strengthen Velodyne’s presence in Australia, where demand for high-performance subwoofers continues to rise in both two-channel and home cinema applications. In the coming months, the full range of Velodyne Acoustics subwoofers will be available to local consumers through AVR’s authorised retailer network.
