Triangle Borea BR10 Affordable Flagship Loudspeaker Launched

Triangle's Borea BR10 three-way floorstander boasts high sensitivity but a low price tag.
Triangle claims its new Borea BR10 is the "highest-performing model" in the acclaimed range. Let's be frank here: After reviewing both the Borea BR03 standmounters, Borea BR08 floorstanders, and even the active version of the BR03, we have found the range anything but lacking in the performance stakes.

Thankfully, Triangle hasn't taken this challenge lightly, opening with new 20cm bass drivers featuring a fibreglass membrane partnered with a powerful motor that promises "exceptional low-frequency reproduction".
The BR10's quartet of drivers, along with a pair of the aforementioned 20cm woofers, comprises a 25mm tweeter and a 15cm midrange. Triangle says the 25mm tweeter uses a fabric dome construction alongside the company's EFS waveguide technology to retain the range's sound signature. The concert of drivers is said to be good for a 30 Hz-22 kHz frequency range (+/-3dB).

This has undoubtedly led the proudly French brand to invest in designing a crossover specifically for the new three-way BR10 and introducing a new architecture to the range. This has resulted in a separate crossover system, with the low-frequency circuitry isolated from the mid-high range. Additionally, the Borea B10 offers the option to be bi-wired or bi-amped should you want.

The Borea BR10 also benefits from the French brand's Driver Vibration Absorption System (DVAS). This proprietary system has the speakers' internal panels fitted with MDF and EVA foam positioned against the bass drivers, resulting, so we're assured, in a stiffer cabinet with less unwanted resonance, colouration or structural noise.
The package of multiple drive units, extended low-frequency bandwidth and quoted 92dB sensitivity rating has Triangle touting the BR10s as an "extremely flexible" pair of floorstanders whether in a stereo system or "the main loudspeaker on your home theatre setup". However, Triangle advises placing them in a room 30m squared or larger.

The Triangle Borea BR10 floorstanders are available in black, white, walnut, or light oak finishes and have an RRP of £1,379/ €1,499.
