Under the new arrangement, Interdyn will take responsibility for supplying Technics Hi-Fi turntables, components and speakers to authorised Australian retailers, marking a structural shift in how the brand is positioned and supported within the local specialist audio market.
According to Panasonic Australia, the decision follows a detailed review of the Australian Hi-Fi landscape and reflects a longer-term strategy for Technics as the category becomes increasingly specialist and experience-driven.

Scott Mellish, Panasonic General Manager – Imaging Solutions & Specialist Group, said the move was designed to strengthen Technics’ footing in the premium audio space:
This exclusive arrangement confidently positions Technics for its next chapter of growth. Interdyn’s established presence in the premium audio segment, along with its dedicated specialist dealer network, will help us deliver a stronger level of product expertise and service for Technics Hi-Fi in Australia.
For Australian turntable enthusiasts in particular, the partnership brings several tangible changes. Interdyn will introduce a cartridge-matching service that pairs Technics turntables with Ortofon phono cartridges, fitted and aligned prior to shipping. A dropship fulfilment model is also being introduced, alongside access to Interdyn’s dealer portal and expanded training and technical support for retailers.

Mellish said customers and retail partners were central to the decision.
At the heart of this decision are our customers and retail partners. We believe they will benefit from a distributor with deep specialisation in high-fidelity audio, knowledgeable staff, hands-on support, and a distribution model designed specifically for this category.

Interdyn director Sam Encel said the addition of Technics Hi-Fi aligns naturally with the company’s long-standing focus on specialist audiovisual brands, telling StereoNET the partnership reflects shared priorities around quality and long-term brand development:
Interdyn has been representing quality AV brands for over 60 years, with hundreds of retailers and custom installers across our network. We’re excited to welcome Technics Hi-Fi to the family and continue our mission to bring leading home audio products to more Australians.

Under the new structure, Technics headphones will also be supplied by Interdyn, though on a non-exclusive basis. Distribution of Technics DJ products remains unchanged and will continue through Store DJ.

For Technics, the move signals a clear intent to sharpen its focus on the specialist Hi-Fi channel in Australia — a market where turntables and two-channel systems continue to enjoy renewed interest.
