Timed to coincide with the company’s centenary celebrations, the launch marks a subtle but significant shift for the British loudspeaker brand as it adapts its established commercial designs to increasingly network-led AV installations.

Celebrating 100 years of audio innovation (1926–2026), Tannoy says the new models retain the familiar acoustic character of its ceiling-mounted CVS and surface-mount DVS series, while streamlining how those speakers are powered and deployed.

For readers less familiar with the term, Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) delivers power, audio, and control data over a single Ethernet cable. Already commonplace in networked AV and IT systems, PoE removes the need for local mains power at the loudspeaker, simplifying cabling, reducing installation time and allowing audio systems to integrate more cleanly with modern IP-based infrastructure.

At the core of both new models is a wideband 6.5-inch driver, tuned for clear speech intelligibility and balanced music playback in distributed audio environments. The shift to PoE is enabled by an integrated two-channel PoE++ amplifier delivering up to 60 watts of output, with all power and signal supplied via standard Ethernet cabling.

Rather than limiting output to a single loudspeaker, Tannoy has adopted a hybrid architecture that allows one active PoE unit to power up to three additional passive speakers. The approach is intended to reduce system cost and complexity while offering installers greater flexibility when creating multi-zone layouts across retail, hospitality, corporate and education spaces.

By eliminating the need for external amplifier racks and dedicated power runs, the CVS 601 PoE and DVS 601 PoE are practical, time-saving solutions for integrators working in increasingly IT-centric project environments. The new models will make their public debut at ISE 2026, running from 3–6 February in Barcelona, with Tannoy exhibiting in Hall 8, Booth 8A350.

The CVS 601 PoE and DVS 601 PoE loudspeakers are scheduled to ship in Q2 2026 through authorised Tannoy distributors worldwide. Pricing is yet to be confirmed.
