SV-Audio’s Astrid Finds Its Voice at High End Vienna

The Danish loudspeaker specialist says Astrid has been a long-planned addition to its range, positioned between the existing Gro and Fenja models. Rather than being presented as simply a smaller or larger alternative, Astrid is described as its own interpretation of SV-Audio’s broader design philosophy, with a focus on natural vocal reproduction, coherence and controlled low-frequency weight.For a small family company, SV-Audio says introducing a new loudspeaker is “more than a product launch”, describing Astrid as the result of years of listening, development, manufacturing and belief in a vision that began before the company itself was founded. That sort of language can often drift into romance, but in this case, it does neatly frame Astrid as a considered addition rather than a quick range filler.

Astrid takes its name from the Old Norse Ásfríðr, meaning “beloved by the gods”, with SV-Audio linking the name to ideas of strength, wisdom and grace. Visually, the loudspeaker continues the company’s distinctive design language, using a solid aluminium front baffle with a machined SV-Audio logo and trademarked radiating pattern. The company says the pattern is not purely decorative, helping reduce reflections across the front surface to improve clarity and focus.

Technically, Astrid is a 2-way passive line source loudspeaker using a 1.5-inch silk dome ring radiator tweeter with a neodymium motor system, partnered with four 5-inch woven, self-reinforced polypropylene mid-woofers. SV-Audio says the drivers operate together across the same frequency range as a true line source system, with the additional cone area intended to create a larger, more physical and more effortless presentation.

The cabinet uses a dual-chamber construction, internally separating the drivers into individual bass chambers to reduce standing waves and unwanted driver interaction. The design is also said to use carefully tuned porting, precise time alignment, pure copper internal wiring and SV-Audio-branded terminals.

Specifications include a claimed frequency response of 32Hz to 20kHz ±3dB, 90dB sensitivity, 6-ohm nominal impedance and a recommended amplifier power range of 25 to 250 watts. Each loudspeaker measures 30 x 106 x 60cm and weighs 37kg, with SV-Audio recommending rooms up to 80 square metres and at least 80cm clearance from the rear wall.

Astrid will be available in a range of satin gloss and high-gloss finishes, including Pure Black, Pure White, Light Grey, Black Pearl, Crème White, Reference Pearl Grey, and Deep Pearl Blue, with custom automotive paint finishes also available on request.

SV-Audio will demonstrate Astrid at the Austria Centre Vienna from June 4th to 7th, 2026, in Sound Cabin X5-V01 and rooms 3.65 / 3.66. Pricing and regional availability are expected to be annouced during the show.
