First previewed at CEDIA Expo 2025, where it received a Residential Systems Best of Show Award, the Impulsion 8 builds on the company’s earlier PA 8 amplifier platform but introduces a significantly more connected and system-aware architecture.
The new model combines Class-D amplification with native Audio-over-IP (AoIP) connectivity, supporting AES67 and Dante protocols. StormAudio says the approach allows the amplifier to function as an intelligent endpoint within modern AV networks rather than simply a conventional analogue power stage.

DESIGNED FOR THE MODERN INTEGRATOR
StormAudio positions the Impulsion 8 squarely at the custom-installation market, where increasingly complex immersive cinema systems are driving demand for more scalable and network-centric architectures.

By integrating AoIP connectivity directly into the amplifier, system designers can build fully digital signal chains with reduced cabling and simplified infrastructure compared with traditional analogue routing. The amplifier is housed in a compact 2RU chassis and uses Pascal Audio’s UMAC Class-D amplification technology alongside a UREC 3600-watt power supply.
Power output is rated at 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms, with the ability to deliver up to 800 watts (8 ohms) or 1200 watts (4 ohms) in bridged mode.

StormAudio says the architecture has been designed to maintain strong dynamic performance while delivering high efficiency and low operating noise, making it suitable for both dedicated equipment racks and quieter living-space installations.
DSP AND SYSTEM INTELLIGENCE
A key part of the Impulsion 8’s design is its ability to integrate directly into the wider StormAudio ecosystem. When paired with a StormAudio processor, the amplifier can be automatically detected and configured, significantly reducing setup time during installation.

StormAudio has also confirmed that full DSP functionality will be added later in 2026, allowing system designers to access tools such as parametric EQ, FIR filters, limiters and per-channel gain control directly within the amplifier.
These capabilities are intended to enable detailed calibration and speaker protection without requiring additional external processing hardware. The amplifier also integrates with the company’s StormMonitoring platform, allowing installers to view system status and diagnostics through an embedded web interface for easier remote management and long-term support.

StormAudio CEO Olivier Thumerel said the goal of the Impulsion 8 was to combine high output with greater system intelligence:
“With the Impulsion 8, we wanted to prove that you don’t need a massive footprint to achieve reference-level performance. By integrating advanced DSP capabilities like FIR filters and native AoIP, we are giving integrators a tool that is not only powerful but also intelligent and future-proof.”

AVAILABILITY
The StormAudio Impulsion 8 was demonstrated at ISE 2026 in Barcelona as part of the company’s “Luxury Immersion Cinema” showcase. The Impulsion 8 is expected to begin shipping in April 2026, with pricing yet to be announced.
