Solidsteel's S2 hi-fi rack is perfectly placed and keenly priced to give music fans an upgrade option from their Ikea Kallax units or domestic sideboard.

While the Italian hi-fi furniture specialist presents the S2 range as an entry-level solution, it is worth noting that Solidsteel's designs have been validated by scientists who have tested various models.

The original S2 in its four-shelf guise impressed us with its build quality and its improvements to components sat upon it compared to regular tables, sideboards and cupboards bought from that most famous Swedish purveyor of flat-pack furniture.

However, for the latest generation of S2 racks, Solidsteel says that it has upgraded the quality at no extra cost to you. This comes in the form of an enhanced surface finish that sees the shelves now crafted with a premium, high-quality polymer laminate surface, replacing the previous melamine finish. This, says the manufacturer, results in a more refined aesthetic and greater durability.

Naturally, the S2 retains its minimalist elegance and Solidsteel's commitment to robust, long-lasting structures that enhance the performance of any audio system, which the company concisely terms "functional excellence".

The new Solidsteel S2 Series hi-fi rack is now available for audiophiles worldwide. It offers the perfect harmony between design, functionality, and value, with prices around £350 for three shelves, £400 for four, and £475 for five.
