SmartThings in Sight as Samsung’s 115-Inch Micro RGB Makes Contact Downunder

Samsung’s 115-inch Micro RGB R95, the brand’s new ultra-premium display, is now officially on approach to Australia — and with “SmartThings in sight,” it looks every bit as otherworldly as the headlines suggest.

As StereoNET previously reported earlier this year, the R95 made its world-first appearance on the global stage, showcasing Samsung’s most advanced display technology to date. The Australian launch now confirms that this colossal 115-inch model will land locally in December, bringing what the company calls “colour beyond cinema standards” to home theatres across the country.

The R95 employs individually controlled red, green, and blue micro RGB LEDs, each measuring less than 100 microns in size — roughly half the size of a conventional Mini LED — arranged in an ultra-fine matrix behind the panel. Samsung says this allows for an “ultra-premium TV experience” that pushes colour accuracy beyond cinema standards. It’s also the company’s first ultra-large display to support 81-bit processing (27 bits x 3), certified by VDE for its Micro RGB Precision Colour performance.

Simon Howe, Director – Audio Visual, Samsung Australia, told StereoNET that the launch of the Micro RGB R95 marks a major milestone for Samsung’s home cinema ambitions.
In making Micro RGB display technology a reality for Australian consumers via the new Micro RGB R95 TV, Samsung is offering an ultra-large home cinema experience that goes beyond expectations by unlocking new levels of colour accuracy, contrast and immersive content experiences.

Howe added that the new display doesn’t just push the envelope on performance — it redefines Samsung’s commitment to versatility across the home.
Supported by Vision AI and Samsung’s Glare-Free technology, Micro RGB reinforces our commitment to provide a screen for virtually every experience, tailored to suit various needs.

Other highlights include Samsung’s new Micro RGB AI Engine, which optimises picture and sound in real-time; the company’s Glare-Free panel coating to help tame reflections in bright living spaces; and a remarkably thin Metal SuperSlim design that measures just 35.7mm from top to bottom, despite the 115-inch panel size. Add console-free gaming through Samsung Gaming Hub, built-in TV Plus content, and SmartThings integration, and it’s clear this is as much a technology platform as it is a television.

The arrival of the Micro RGB R95 also underscores how quickly Samsung is evolving beyond Mini LED technology. While this isn’t a true self-emissive MicroLED display, the new RGB structure promises improved local contrast and expanded colour volume — a bridge between today’s premium LCDs and tomorrow’s micro-scale light emitters. We look forward to seeing the R95 up close when it finally touches down — and if the early glimpses are anything to go by, this could be the closest thing yet to a close encounter in your living room.

The 115-inch Samsung Micro RGB R95 TV will be available in Australia from 10 December 2025 via Samsung and leading retailers nationwide, priced at A$42,999 | US$29,999.
