The new model follows the Skyanalog P-1G Moving Coil Cartridge, which was reviewed by StereoNET and praised for bringing serious analogue performance to a relatively attainable part of the moving coil market. The P-1GC appears to build on that foundation rather than replace it outright, refining the mechanical package around the company’s Yan Suspension system.

The most obvious technical change is the move to a zirconia ceramic cantilever. Skyanalog says the material has been chosen for its combination of rigidity and internal damping, with the aim of suppressing unwanted mechanical ringing while preserving detail and tonal coherence.

That is the sort of claim best judged on a turntable rather than a spec sheet, of course, but the theory behind it makes sense. Cantilever material, stylus profile and suspension behaviour all play a direct role in how a cartridge tracks the groove and manages energy before that movement reaches the coil system.

Central to the P-1GC is Skyanalog’s new Skyliptical™ stylus, a proprietary solid diamond design fitted to the cartridge rather than presented, at least for now, as a separate upgrade product. Described by the company as its first solid diamond stylus design, it uses what Skyanalog calls AI-optimised geometry intended to develop the traditional elliptical profile with greater groove contact and more efficient mechanical transcription.

According to Skyanalog, the one-piece diamond structure is designed to maximise rigidity, improve signal integrity and support greater detail retrieval, wider spatial definition and stronger high-frequency clarity. The company also claims improved tracking under demanding groove conditions, along with sharper imaging and higher channel separation.

In listening terms, Skyanalog is pitching the P-1GC as a more refined and open-sounding development of the P-1G recipe, with a focus on natural transparency, controlled energy transfer, tonal density and long-term listening comfort. The P-1GC will be priced at €599 | A$1,390 with order availability for selected retailers to commence shortly.
