Sennheiser RS 275 Promises Full-Range Sound for Blissful Box Set Binging

The HDR 275 TV headphones and bundled BTA1 Auracast transmitter promise effortless wireless entertainment with deep personalisation. Together with the headphone stand, Sennheiser calls this the RS 275 system.

The HDR 275 TV headphones are made for marathon binging, boasts Sennheiser. Thanks to their featherweight construction and supple ear cushions made from a breathable, luxurious fabric, they should keep your lobes comfortable throughout a multi-season box set.

Meanwhile, large textured buttons provide tactile control of up to 106 dB of volume, power, and even incoming calls when paired with your phone.

A single charge lasts up to 50 hours and can be recharged via the transmitter’s USB-C port or another charger. Both battery and ear cushions are user-replaceable.

Featuring Auracast transmission technology powered by the LC3 Bluetooth codec, the RS 275 system’s BTA1 TV transmitter and HDR 275 headphones offer ultra-low latency synchronisation of sound and picture and up to 50 meters of range. Every HDR 275 can also connect to other Auracast- or Bluetooth Classic-enabled devices, such as tablets and smartphones, for app-based streaming, so you can listen wherever you fancy.

The included BTA1 transmitter uses Auracast exclusively, blanketing any entertainment space with a wireless signal for devices like headphones, earbuds, hearing aids, and loudspeakers.

This compact hub offers a host of input options, including a combination optical and 3.5mm input, which allows the BTA1 to connect to TVs, stereo systems, laptops, game consoles, and more. Meanwhile, the HDMI ARC input expands compatibility with TVs and A/V receivers.

The unit's top buttons let you switch inputs and sound modes, including virtual surround sound and enhanced speech clarity when using TV or HDMI ARC sources. Of course, you can also use additional BTA1 features via the smartphone app. This allows configuration of auto-input switching and video delay compensation, while also managing Auracast settings such as broadcast name, password protection, and hearing aid modes.

The BTA1 is powered via a nearby device’s USB Type-A port and powers a USB Type-C port for headphone charging. The low-profile design fits perfectly on the included headphone stand, or it can be placed discreetly near the sound source.

Made with simplicity in mind, the RS 275 can be set up in a few minutes thanks to the headphones and transmitter being pre-paired. For those looking for a more bespoke experience, the free Sennheiser Smart Control Plus App (Android, iOS) offers additional personalisation, including transparency mode, left-right balance, hearing profiles, device-type audio modes, equaliser settings, bass boost, and other hearing enhancement tools.
