Sennheiser Reimagines MOMENTUM 4 Headphones for 80th Anniversary

Reimagined through the eyes — and ears — of pioneering German graffiti artist Bond Truluv, this limited-release design pairs Sennheiser’s audio engineering pedigree with street art flair, offering a fresh celebration of the brand’s eight-decade journey.

The MOMENTUM 4 80th Anniversary Edition fuses Truluv’s energetic visual language with Sennheiser’s well loved wireless headphone platform. On the left earcup, his distinctive “throwie” tag sits atop a raw, layered backdrop to evoke motion and texture. Meanwhile, the right side carries abstract linework inspired by audio waveforms — a fitting nod to the chaos and control that underpin great sound. Yellow highlights scattered throughout the design serve as a clever homage to the brand’s legendary HD 414 headphones, which in 1968 brought the world its first open-back, on-ear design and set a new benchmark in listening freedom.

Truluv summed up the design ethos by saying:

“I wanted the headphones to feel like sound in motion — fluid, raw, and exciting. Pretty much all of my signature styles lead to a certain type of music or even a special song.”

It’s a sentiment that speaks directly to Sennheiser’s ethos of crafting products that don’t just reproduce audio, but transform it into a vivid, personal experience.

Beneath the street-inspired exterior lies the same highly regarded MOMENTUM 4 architecture. In this writter humble opinion, it’s hard to overlook the milestone behind this release. Founded in 1945, Sennheiser has spent eight decades shaping how we experience music — from studio mics and pro audio systems through to audiophile headphones and, more recently, consumer streaming and speech-enhanced hearables now under the stewardship of Sonova. After spending some time considering the release material, looking at Bond Truluv's art and reflecting on Sennheiser’s place in the industry — this latest collaboration with Truluv feels less like a mere birthday celebration and more like a continuation of the brand’s habit of pushing boundaries, whether that’s through rethinking driver technology or partnering with artists who see (and hear) the world a little differently.
