Samsung’s 115-Inch Micro RGB TV Makes Its World-First Play

Samsung has launched a 115-inch Micro RGB TV it says delivers unprecedented colour precision, marking the debut of a new RGB micro-LED backlight system in the consumer market.

The company claims the technology achieves full 100% coverage of the BT.2020 colour gamut — an international benchmark for colour reproduction — and represents a new standard for ultra-large premium displays.

Central to the model design is Samsung’s proprietary Micro RGB Technology, which arranges individually controlled red, green, and blue micro LEDs — each less than 100μm in size — in an ultra-fine pattern behind the panel. Unlike conventional backlighting, which typically uses blue LEDs with filters or phosphors, this approach gives independent control over each primary colour at the backlight stage. Samsung says this enables more accurate colour rendering, improved contrast, and a more lifelike picture than any previous LCD-based design.

Lee Jong-po, Senior Vice President of the development team of Samsung Electronics' Video Display Division, said:
We are confident that the technology of Samsung Electronics' world's first 'Micro RGB TV' is superior to that of our competitors. Samsung Electronics has determined that the size of Micro RGB TVs is 115 inches to maximise immersion, and next year, we will introduce a popular lineup to make it more accessible to consumers.
The panel is driven by Samsung’s Micro RGB AI Engine, which analyses each frame in real time to optimise colour expression, picture detail, and even audio. A dedicated Micro RGB Colour Booster Pro mode identifies scenes with muted tones and enhances them for greater vibrancy without pushing colours into unnatural territory. The TV has also received “Micro RGB Precision Colour” certification from Germany’s Verband der Elektrotechnik (VDE), recognising its performance in controlled testing.

In this writers humble opinion, Samsung’s new flagship also underlines just how far the ‘uber TV’ race has come. A 115-inch screen would have been an attention-grabbing anomaly only a few years ago — today, it arrives in a market where Hisense, TCL, LG, Sony and others are also pushing into triple-digit territory with their premium displays. At this scale, these TVs are more than just large; they become the centrepiece of a room, delivering a level of visual immersion that edges into dedicated projection territory.

Other features include Samsung’s Glare Free technology to reduce reflections in bright environments, a slim all-metal chassis, and integration with Samsung Vision AI for contextual search. Vision AI allows viewers to use Bixby voice control to ask on-screen questions — such as actor details, related content, or real-time recommendations — without interrupting playback. Samsung Knox handles security, and the set is covered by a seven-year Tizen OS upgrade program, ensuring long-term software support.

While this remains an LCD-based design rather than a fully self-emissive Micro LED, the move to RGB micro-LED backlighting could represent a meaningful step forward in picture performance for large-format televisions. StereoNET looks forward to seeing the 115-inch Micro RGB TV in person and experiencing firsthand how Samsung’s latest display technology performs in the real world.

Samsung has confirmed initial availability in the US and South Korea, priced at US$29,999. The Micro RGB TV will soon become available in other regions, and a broader global rollout, including additional screen sizes, is planned.
