Touted as "a sleek powerhouse", the new DX-5 from Rotel promises 33 Watts/channel into 4 ohms (25 Watts/channel at 8 ohms) of "Class AB brilliance."

The DX-5 is powered by an "in-house" toroidal transformer and high-current transistors, which, according to Rotel, result in pristine highs, detailed midrange, and deep bass.

Meanwhile, a 768kHz ESS ES9039Q2M Sabre DAC crunches the numbers, dutifully ensuring claimed ultra-low noise (100 dB SNR) and a wide soundstage and frequency response (10 Hz—100k Hz, ±0.19 dB).

The 215 x 76 x 251 mm (8 1/2 in x 3 in x 9 3/4 in) integrated amplifier offers applaudable versatility thanks to HDMI ARC, a subwoofer output for 2.1-channel setups, and a headphone jack for private listening. There is also PC-USB Type B (32-bit/384kHz PCM, DSD 4x), Coaxial/Optical (24-bit/192kHz), aptX HD/AAC Bluetooth, or RCA analogue input options.

The DX-5 also boasts Roon Tested certification, and the precision volume control (0.5dB steps, 680 mV sensitivity) enhances its user-friendliness.

Available in black or silver and weighing 4.1 kg, the DX-5's compact design features a full-colour TFT display and comes bundled with an aluminium remote.

DX-5 will be available late-April 2025, priced at US$1,499, €1,499, £1,399, A$2,199.
