Revival Audio ATALANTE Grande Réserve Flagship Speakers

Revival Audio launches its new, limited edition flagship ATALANTE Grande Réserve standmount loudspeakers.

Pitched as “the rarest flagship in the ATALANTE lineage”, the ATALANTE Grande Réserve takes its name from the highest mark of distinction in French heritage, especially when referencing Cognac and Champagne—a title reserved for the rarest and finest. In this case, a limited run of 300 pairs globally.

Building on the ATALANTE 7 Évo, the Grande Réserve promises “reference-grade performance” for listeners via new RASC Évo tweeter and midrange drivers, a re-engineered 12-inch BSC Grande Réserve woofer, and StrataBaffle front baffle. These, says the brand, are complemented by Mundorf, WBT, and van den Hul Skyline components.

Starting with the debut of Revival Audio’s 28mm RASC Évo tweeter and midrange driver, which the French firm says is centred around its patented ARID technology.

Here, a specially-made Tetoron tweeter dome benefits from a refined coating recipe for smoother response, fatigue-free, and natural treble. Furthermore, its pure aluminium voice coil “enhances detail retrieval and precision with ultra-low inductance.” This is paired with an anti-resonance inner dome that’s claimed to absorb over 97% of internal resonance, which is further controlled by an Aluminium back chamber. Finally, the Neodymium magnet system is said to deliver +5dB of sensitivity, boosting dynamics, efficiency, and control, and a ventilated back plate and diffuser promise optimised airflow.

The 3-inch midrange unit shares much of the tweeter’s engineering, including ARID tech, a ventilated backplate, and a Neodymium magnet system that offers a robust, high-BL motor, we’re told, which increases sensitivity and control, enabling a dynamic and expressive midrange with effortless projection. The dual-suspension dome system should ensure linear movement across all frequencies, reducing distortion and improving clarity and articulation. Meanwhile, the copper-clad aluminium wire and shorting ring are designed to lower distortion and improve micro-dynamics.

The newly developed 12-inch BSC (Basalt Sandwich Construction) Grande Réserve Woofer features 10mm extended linear excursion and a high-roll surround with ±12 mm X-max. The spec sheet goes on to state a 36mm Y35 magnet, a 2.55-inch four-layer voice coil with thicker gauge wire, and a black-anodised aluminium former for improved cooling and long-term stability promise articulate, distortion-free dynamics with absolute control.

Crossovers are set at 400Hz and 2.0kHz, with duties assigned via Mundorf Supreme components and WBT binding posts, alongside proprietary capacitors and inductors, and oversized coils engineered for "natural, uncoloured sound and a signature tonal balance." This is all connected via Van den Hul Skyline internal wiring.

Revival Audio quotes a 26Hz-24kHz frequency response (-6 dB), 89 dB/1 m sensitivity (2.83 V/1 m), and a 4 ohm nominal impedance figure.

The 710 x 420 x 355 mm (28 x 16.5 x 14-inch) [HxWxD] smoked oak finished cabinet sports enhanced internal bracing and what Revival calls a StrataBaffIe multi-layer front baffle. This 25mm, 6kg, three-layer construction features solid oak with a CDF core and MDF backing. This sandwich is “precision chamfered” to reduce diffraction and increase rigidity, resulting in refined imaging, so says the manufacturer.

At the rear of the cabinet are dual AeroVex bass ports derived from ATALANTE 7 Évo. Revival Audio says this twin rear-ported system should produce seamless airflow and natural, extended low-frequency response, reducing port noise by more than 94%.

Finally, the optional dedicated wood stand is reinforced by a die-cast metal structure, promising a perfect balance of damping and rigidity. We're told that the micro-adjustable spikes and the decoupling design between speakers and stands enhance stability and vibration control.

The Revival Audio ATALANTE Grande Réserve is limited to 300 worldwide and retails at £9,890 including stands.
