The pair sits at the top of the British manufacturer’s solid-state lineup and completes what Rega is calling its latest reference system, joining the Aura phono stage, Isis CD players and Naia turntable. For Rega loyalists, this marks the first time the company has offered a fully matched reference chain built entirely around its own electronics, source components and amplification.

Rega says the Mercury was engineered with a single objective: to create a no-compromise pre-amplifier with an exceptionally low noise floor and the kind of dynamic expression demanded at this level. In practice, that means a design focused on preserving microdetail rather than masking it — a hallmark the brand has been quietly refining over four decades of electronics development.
The Mercury also adds modern usability features, including a high-performance DAC, a discrete headphone stage, and a full-colour IPS display, which should help it appeal to both traditional hi-fi listeners and those building a more versatile front end.
Its companion, the Solis power amplifier, is positioned as the muscle of the new reference duo. Hand-built in England and designed to drive demanding loudspeakers, the Solis has been in development for four years as Rega’s engineering team refined the circuit and reduced noise.
The company notes that splitting the pre-amp and power-amp circuitry across two chassis isn’t just an audiophile nod — it’s a practical way to isolate low-voltage, noise-sensitive stages from the high-current side of the system. The result, Rega claims, is a cleaner signal path and a more accurate, engaging performance. The Solis is also compatible with the brand’s Aethos stereo power amplifier for those expanding an existing system.
Rega showcased early prototypes at the Bristol Show and at various dealer events around the UK, with production versions demonstrated at the recent Edinburgh HI-AV Show. However, today marks the first time both models have been officially confirmed as production-ready. Retailers are expected to begin receiving stock from next week.
The Rega Mercury pre-amplifier is priced at £6,950, while the Solis power amplifier also retails at £6,950, with the pair offered at a combined price of £13,900.
