Few names in high-end audio carry as much heritage as Luxman. To mark its centenary in 2025, the Japanese manufacturer unveiled a new reference-grade headphone amplifier, the P-100 Centennial—a statement piece that showcases everything the brand has learned over the past century.

Hand-built in Luxman’s Yokohama facility, the P-100 Centennial launches as the inaugural component in the company's limited-edition “Centennial” lineup. Drawing upon Luxman’s storied amplifier legacy, it’s designed to deliver a no-compromise listening experience for audiophiles who demand the highest levels of detail, control, and sonic integrity from their headphones.
LIFES is central to the P-100’s performance—short for Luxman Integrated Feedback Engine System—a next-generation feedback topology that significantly advances its previous ODNF (Only Distortion Negative Feedback) design. Luxman claims LIFES cuts distortion in half and improves signal-to-noise ratio by over 3dB compared to its predecessor, with the goal of preserving musical energy while enhancing clarity across the frequency spectrum.

Volume control is equally refined. The P-100 introduces LECUA-EX, a 200-step electronically controlled attenuator developed over two decades of research. With 0.5dB resolution per step, Luxman says the system avoids channel imbalance and maintains sound purity even at low levels. A large LED display offers visual feedback, while a three-stage sensitivity selector, LR balance adjustment, and volume limiter allow fine-tuning for a variety of headphone types and listening scenarios.
Physically, the amplifier is built like a flagship, with a low-resonance chassis and discrete power supplies for amplification and control circuits. Eight large capacitors and twin OI-core transformers ensure clean, stable current delivery to each channel. Oxygen-free copper wiring and low-loss relay paths further reinforce the unit’s commitment to signal integrity.

Versatility is also a significant focus. The P-100 features four front-mounted headphone outputs—standard 6.3mm unbalanced, 4.4mm balanced, 4-pin XLR, and 3-pin XLR for BTL operation—alongside corresponding rear-panel line outputs. Under the hood are four independent amplification blocks, enabling multiple output modes, including Balanced Output (BTL), Parallel Unbalanced Mode, and even Parallel BTL Balanced Mode when two units are linked together for an eight-amplifier configuration. It’s an extreme proposition, but one aimed at the upper end of headphone fidelity.

Visually, the amplifier embraces a refined aesthetic with a platinum-toned Centennial nameplate and hairline-finished fascia. It’s subtle, but unmistakably Luxman—traditional in feel but underpinned by cutting-edge engineering.

The Luxman P-100 Centennial is available now via authorised dealers in the UK & Europe and is priced at £9,000 / €12,990. Availability and pricing for other regions have yet to be confirmed.
