Optoma states that the UHZ68LV offers 5000 lumens of brightness, which is significantly higher than many home cinema projectors in this price range. The projector features a throw ratio of 1.2:1 to 1.92:1, allowing projection from 30 inches up to 301 inches, with a projection distance spanning from 1 to 10 meters. A 1.6x optical zoom and lens shift provide installation and image alignment flexibility.
The company claims a contrast ratio of 3,200,000:1, though this is a dynamic contrast figure rather than a native measurement. The specifications suggest the projector also covers 90-95% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, supporting wider colour reproduction for HDR content. The UHZ68LV is powered by Optoma’s PureEngine Ultra processor, designed to optimise motion handling, sharpness, and colour accuracy. Filmmaker Mode disables additional processing to present content as intended, while ISF-certified calibration modes allow professional fine-tuning.
For gaming, the UHZ68LV supports a 240Hz input at 1080p, but its actual display output is limited to 120Hz at 1080p and 60Hz at 4K. Input lag is rated at 8.5ms at 1080p 120Hz, which, in this writer's humble opinion, should be sufficient for casual gaming applications.
Power consumption ranges from 165W to 345W, with a standby mode of 0.5W for energy efficiency. Noise levels are reported between 25dB and 31 dB.
The UHZ68LV includes built-in 5W speakers and supports Dolby Atmos via eARC for external audio systems. Connectivity options include two HDMI ports (2.1 and 2.0), USB-A, RJ-45 Ethernet, and S/PDIF for digital audio output.
The 30,000-hour lamp life is positioned as a long-term benefit for users requiring extended operation. Given its feature set, this projector's value proposition appears strong, but real-world testing will be required to verify Optoma’s performance claims, particularly in HDR handling, gaming responsiveness, and overall picture quality in varied lighting conditions.
