The Compact range, which debuted internationally late last year, and reported on by StereoNET in March, represents a deliberate effort by the Swiss manufacturer to bring its renowned engineering and sonic excellence to a broader global audience.

Long regarded as one of Switzerland’s most respected technology companies, Nagra’s legacy spans professional recorders used in Hollywood film production and space exploration, as well as audiophile-grade playback systems found in the world’s finest listening rooms. Until now, that expertise has come at a price, with most Nagra source components typically starting well above A$20,000. The new Compact series, however, marks a distinct shift in philosophy — offering what the company describes as “world-class source performance at more accessible pricing.”

According to Advance Audio owner Nigel Ng, the new range makes the Nagra experience attainable for a far broader audience, telling StereoNET:

This new range gives music lovers an affordable way to experience what makes Nagra one of the best hi-fi manufacturers in the world. Altogether, with this system, customers can enjoy a Nagra stack that covers the two most common sources for hi-fi systems: streaming and vinyl.

The Compact lineup consists of the Nagra Streamer, Compact Phono, and Compact PSU, complemented by a scaled-down version of the company’s well-known VFS isolation base. Each model features a solid CNC-machined aluminium enclosure designed to suppress vibration and ensure mechanical integrity. The Streamer and Compact Phono share compact proportions of 185 × 166 × 41 mm, while the Compact PSU measures 160 × 191 × 61 mm. The PSU is designed to power either the Streamer or Phono for optimal performance, while the Compact VFS base provides additional resonance control for all three models.

The Compact range has been positioned globally as Nagra’s most accessible entry point into its ecosystem. Nagra describes it as “a gateway into the world of Nagra,” maintaining the brand’s signature build and sonic refinement in a smaller, more affordable form. In Europe and the United Kingdom, the models are already listed through select high-end retailers such as StudioAV and Wittmann HiFi, signalling strong demand beyond the brand’s traditional customer base.

Nagra’s decision to introduce the Compact series internationally — including across Europe, the UK, North America, and now Australia — underscores a growing shift in high-end audio towards compact, modular systems that don’t compromise on fidelity. For Australian listeners, the arrival of this range through Advance Audio represents a significant moment: a chance to experience the precision and craftsmanship that define Nagra, without the barrier of ultra-high-end pricing.

The Compact line is available now for order, with pricing as follows:

Nagra Streamer — A$7,995 | £4,500
Nagra Compact Phono — A$7,995 | £4,500
Nagra Compact PSU — A$5,795
Nagra Compact VFS — A$2,195
