Version 2.0 of the company’s Linux-based streaming platform brings native support for Spotify, Qobuz, Tidal Connect and more, allowing users to stream directly from smartphone apps without relying on third-party control software. This latest update adds to Mytek’s existing Roon Core integration, giving users the choice between a powerful, networked multi-room system or a simplified “tap-and-play” experience from their mobile devices.

According to Mytek, the built-in Roon Core engine features 20 times more processing power than comparable streaming solutions, enabling smooth performance today and headroom for future software-based DSP upgrades. As with previous versions, the Brooklyn Bridge II and flagship Empire serve as full-function digital and analogue preamplifiers, complete with a phono stage and headphone amplifier. When matched with the Brooklyn AMP+ or the visually coordinated Empire GanFET monoblocks, either unit can function as the centrepiece of a minimalist but high-performance stereo system.

For those unfamiliar with the company, Mytek was founded in New York City in 1992 by Michal Jurewicz, whose background in studio engineering saw him working with artists like Paul Simon, Mariah Carey, and Barbara Streisand at iconic facilities such as the Hit Factory and Skyline Studios. During this era, Jurewicz developed his first digital audio converters, aiming to improve the transparency of early digital recordings.

Mytek’s gear quickly became a staple in professional recording environments, and the company has continued to innovate in both the pro audio and high-end consumer markets. In addition to its legacy in 24-bit and DSD audio, Mytek played a role in the MQA development project and has more recently turned its attention to streamer-DACs that blend studio-grade audio with home hi-fi convenience.

The updated software will ship pre-installed on all new Empire units starting July 2025, with pricing and availability varying by region. We’ll update as soon as we know more. Existing Brooklyn Bridge II users can access the update immediately via the “Install New Update” option in the system settings menu.

As part of its Munich High End 2025 celebrations, Mytek is also offering a range of limited-time promotional bundles and discounts valid until May 20th. These include the Liberty DAC II bundled with a free pair of HiFiMAN Sundara planar headphones and special pricing on the Brooklyn Bridge Streaming DAC, Empire Monoblocks, Brooklyn AMP+, and more.
