Monitor Audio Expands Creator Series with In-Wall Large Speakers

Monitor Audio has launched the Creator Series In-Wall Large speakers, designed to deliver cinema-grade sound while disappearing seamlessly into the wall.

The new models mark a significant expansion of the British company’s architectural range, which has been developed under its Transparent Design Philosophy.
The Creator Series has already set a benchmark for ease of installation and performance, and the new large models take that further. With three tiers available—W1L, W2L, and W3L—these speakers are aimed at serious home cinemas, premium two-channel systems, and multi-room installations where high-fidelity sound is demanded but visual intrusion isn’t.

Michael Hedges, Monitor Audio’s Technical Director, explained to StereoNET:
“With the new In-Wall Large, we’ve taken the performance envelope further, offering greater levels of SPL, detail and clarity than ever before. The sonic performance is more controlled and more detailed, and it offers a massive soundscape that performs better than adding fewer larger drivers.”
At the entry point, the W1L is a two-way design with four 127mm C-CAM mid-bass drivers and a C-CAM tweeter with UD Waveguide I. Stepping up to the W2L adds RST II drivers borrowed from the Silver 7G range, boundary correction and high-frequency cut/boost. At the same time, the flagship W3L brings Platinum 3G-derived RDT III bass drivers, a rotatable coaxial mid/tweeter array, and the brand’s MPD II high-frequency transducer.

Beyond the driver complement, Monitor Audio has focused on technology that benefits the installer and listener alike. Multiple smaller bass drivers, for instance, are said to deliver faster, more accurate response thanks to lower mass, resulting in tighter, more controlled bass and clearer low-frequency reproduction. They also distribute sound more evenly across a room, reducing dead spots and improving dispersion. By keeping cone excursion lower, cabinet resonance and distortion are minimised, maintaining cleaner sound even at high volumes.

The Tier 2 and Tier 3 models also feature a rotatable mid-pod array, which allows the midrange and tweeter to be oriented horizontally or vertically. This flexibility makes them ideal for left, centre and right positions in home cinema, with better stereo imaging and spatial accuracy when configured in LCR roles.

Monitor Audio’s patented Quik-Link terminal has made installation faster and more secure. This terminal allows speaker cables to be pre-fitted and then magnetically “snapped” into place when the speaker is ready to be mounted, cutting down installation time and ensuring a reliable connection. Tri-Grip II, the company’s redesigned dog-leg mounting system, further improves fitment by providing a stronger, vibration-free grip with cushioned contact points for long-term stability.

For those looking to extract the best possible performance, Monitor Audio also offers an optional large back box. This creates a controlled acoustic environment behind the speaker, improving clarity, bass response, and consistency while also reducing sound transmission into adjoining rooms.
The company notes that the Creator Series embodies its pursuit of “musical neutrality and acoustic transparency,” with designs intended to integrate into any living space without drawing visual attention.

Charles Minett, Product Design Director for Monitor Audio, commented:
“In-Wall Large is a massive step up in performance with designs that belie their physical size.”
With their combination of advanced acoustic technologies, installer-friendly features, and tiered performance levels, the Creator Series In-Wall Large speakers extend Monitor Audio’s reputation for high-fidelity sound into larger-scale custom installations.
