MoFi UltraPhono Pro Puts a Finer Point on the Vinyl Signal Chain

The UltraPhono Pro follows several strategically important releases over the past year, including the SourcePoint V10 floorstanding loudspeakers and the Fender-collaborated American Vintage turntable, underscoring MoFi Electronics’ methodical expansion while keeping analogue replay firmly at the centre of its identity.

Designed in collaboration with veteran engineer Peter Madnick, the UltraPhono Pro distils core elements of MoFi’s flagship MasterPhono into a more accessible, single-input design. Fully discrete J-FET and MOSFET gain stages sit alongside a passive, zero-feedback RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) equalisation network, which applies the vinyl playback curve without relying on corrective feedback circuits.

A multi-stage regulated power supply completes the design, reflecting a clear trickle-down approach that prioritises low noise, tonal accuracy, and cartridge flexibility over feature excess.

A read through the specifications suggests MoFi has leaned as heavily into usability as it has into circuit purity. Gain and loading controls are positioned on the front panel, simplifying cartridge setup. Features such as mono playback, a subsonic filter, mute, and dimmable illumination reflect a focus on practical use rather than embellishment.

With gain extending up to 71 dB via balanced outputs, the UltraPhono Pro is designed to accommodate everything from high-output moving-magnet cartridges to low-output moving-coil designs.

MoFi quotes RIAA accuracy of ±0.05 dB, supported by a 10 Hz–50 kHz frequency response and a seven-stage regulated power supply intended to keep noise levels in check. Balanced and single-ended outputs are provided, allowing straightforward integration into a wide range of systems.

Seen in the context of MoFi Electronics’ broader journey from its beginnings as a hardware extension of Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab to a brand now spanning turntables, cartridges, loudspeakers, and accessories, the UltraPhono Pro feels less like a standalone launch and more like another deliberate step. Vinyl is established, and manufacturers such as MoFi appear increasingly focused on developing complete analogue ecosystems that are easier to understand, assemble, and live with.
