Meze Audio ASTRU Becomes Brand’s Star IEM

ASTRU is Meze Audio’s new flagship dynamic in-ear monitor, promising visceral, full-bodied sound.
Meze Audio designed the ASTRU for listeners who want genuine high-end performance without the flagship price, the Romanian head-fi brand says. Still, it sits at the other end of the range compared to their Alba IEM.

With the ASTRU, Meze aimed to build an in-ear monitor with a single driver that matches the layering, imaging, and resolution usually found in multi-driver models.

Meze explains that the 10mm driver is an advanced multilayer composite diaphragm designed to balance speed, control, and musical depth.

The diaphragm dome features more than 80 ultra-thin gold layers applied through a 48-hour vacuum process, bonded to titanium, and mounted on a PEEK base. This design aims to deliver quick response, clear treble, and the warm sound dynamic drivers are known for.

The ASTRU’s shell shape has been improved for better comfort over long listening sessions. Each shell is CNC-machined from a single block of pure titanium and then goes through several electroplating steps to get a smooth satin finish.

Meze states that the ASTRU offers a frequency range from 5 Hz to 35 kHz, an impedance of 32 ohms, a sensitivity of 111 dB SPL/mW at 1 kHz, and less than 0.1% total harmonic distortion at 1 kHz.

This IEM is made for high-end portable listening and comes with a premium balanced cable featuring CNC-anodized aluminum hardware and a gold-plated 4.4 mm balanced connector. The package also includes a 4.4 mm to 3.5 mm adapter, five sizes of ear tips (XS to XL), and two carrying options: a protective pouch and a soft PU leather case.

The Meze Audio ASTRU will be available from March 20 2026, with a suggested retail price of £819 | US$899 | €899.

ASTRU will make its first public appearance at CanJam New York this weekend, starting on March 7 2026.
