McIntosh's new MX200 offers up to 11.2 channels of signal processing and so can accommodate home cinema configurations from 5.1 to 7.2.4 surround sound speaker arrangements.

The company also states that thanks to its "streamlined design" and 2U rack size, it will work for both DIY enthusiasts and seasoned professional integrators as part of a custom install project, whether you are indulging in 8K, 4K, or HD content from streaming services or diving into the depths of Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD discs.

The MX200 supports immersive audio formats, including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, and features four HDMI inputs and one HDMI output with enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) functionality. These support 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz video, compatible with HDCP 2.3; High Dynamic Range (HDR) formats Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and HLG; 4:4:4 colour spacing; Rec. 2020; and 3D video pass-through. The HDMI output features.
Digital audio inputs include two coax and two optical to connect additional audio devices such as a CD player, tuner, or music streamer. These are treated to some of the MX200's seven premium 32-bit DACs.

Meanwhile, analogue audio inputs include a Moving Magnet phono input to connect a turntable and a pair of balanced and unbalanced auxiliary inputs to connect other audio devices.
To connect to home theatre amplifier(s), the MX200 sports eleven discrete balanced outputs and two discrete unbalanced subwoofer outputs, while bass and treble tone controls enable fine-tuning.

McIntosh's MX200 also features Dirac Live Room Correction Full Bandwidth and its corresponding licence, delivering advanced room adjustment and correction. An advanced room acoustic solution, Dirac Live enables you to optimise your sound systems and reduce unwanted room effects.
The MX200 is available from August 2024 with an MSRP of £7,995/ €8,290.
