Marantz Adds Firepower to Home Cinema Lineup with AV 20 and AMP 20

Latest AV preamp and power amp deliver premium home theatre performance with future-proof flexibility

Marantz has bolstered its high-end home theatre lineup by introducing two new reference-grade components: the AV 20 AV Preamplifier and AMP 20 Power Amplifier. Building on the success of the award-winning AV 10, AMP 10 and CINEMA 30 models, the new duo promises expanded flexibility, audiophile-calibre performance, and the timeless design the brand is known for.

Designed and manufactured at the Shirakawa Audio Works facility in Japan, the AV 20 and AMP 20 form part of Marantz’s growing ecosystem of premium AV separates. Tuned by the Marantz Sound Master, both models are built to deliver “The Most Musical Sound,” whether you're watching the latest blockbuster or streaming high-res audio.

At the heart of the AV 20 is a powerful Analog Devices SHARC dual-core DSP engine coupled with 32-bit two-channel DACs and dedicated jitter reduction. The unit can decode and process all major immersive audio formats, including Dolby Atmos, DTS:X Pro, IMAX Enhanced, and Auro-3D. Room correction is handled by Audyssey MultEQ XT32, with support for Dirac Live—including Bass Control and Dirac Live Active Room Treatment (ART)—available as an optional upgrade. ART will be enabled via a future firmware update, marking a first for Marantz and allowing unprecedented control over room acoustics.

Connectivity is equally forward-looking, with seven HDMI inputs and three outputs supporting up to 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz. The preamp section includes a discrete HDAM SA-3 stage with 13.4-channel output via RCA or XLR, enabling a vast range of configurations. A new high-resolution user interface and aluminium backlit remote elevate the user experience. Naturally, the AV 20 is also HEOS-enabled, making it compatible with Marantz’s multi-room streaming ecosystem. It supports AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, Roon Ready, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, and Qobuz Connect out of the box.

Complementing the AV 20 is the AMP 20: a 12-channel Class AB power amplifier rated at 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms (1kHz, THD 0.05%, 2 channels driven). Designed to support a variety of speaker configurations, the AMP 20 also allows bridging to create six channels at 400 watts each or bi-amping up to six speakers. Like its predecessor, the AMP 10, the AMP 20 uses a copper-heavy multi-layer chassis and is styled with the brand’s signature porthole display. Both RCA and XLR inputs are included for seamless system integration. While it pairs perfectly with the new AV 20, the AMP 20 can also be matched with Marantz’s AV 10 or even used as an amplifier upgrade for the CINEMA 30 AVR, providing users with system-wide flexibility.
Giles Pocock, Vice-President of Brand Marketing at Marantz, commented:
The new AV 20 and AMP 20 are the next stage in Marantz’s continuing evolution in the high-performance audio category. They represent all that is best about the brand’s premium design, engineering excellence and attention to detail.
