The platform is positioned as a more flexible and less complex alternative to traditional surround sound systems, aiming to lower the barrier to immersive home audio as Dolby Atmos content becomes increasingly common across streaming, gaming and live sport.

Dolby Atmos FlexConnect is designed to remove rigid speaker placement rules, automatically adapting audio output to where compatible wireless speakers are positioned in the room. LG says this allows users to build immersive Dolby Atmos systems without the usual wiring, calibration or layout constraints, an increasingly relevant proposition for modern living spaces.

John Couling, Senior Vice President of Entertainment at Dolby Laboratories, commented on the development:

For too long, enjoying immersive home audio meant compromise, either in your room layout or in sound quality. Dolby Atmos FlexConnect removes that trade-off.

He added:

Pairing FlexConnect with LG’s Sound Suite and upcoming TV lineup delivers premium sound that adapts to your space — no complicated setup and no compromises, reflecting Dolby’s aim to bring immersive audio to more households globally.

The LG Sound Suite is designed to be modular. Users can run the H7 soundbar on its own or pair it with LG’s M7 or M5 wireless surround speakers and the W7 subwoofer, scaling up over time to a full 13.1.7-channel configuration. In total, LG claims 27 possible system layouts. When the H7 soundbar acts as the lead device, Dolby Atmos FlexConnect can work with any TV via HDMI. Additionally, LG plans to introduce FlexConnect support to its 2026 premium TVs and select 2025 models through a future software update.

LG has incorporated a suite of processing features, including Sound Follow, which utilises ultra-wideband technology to adjust the listening sweet spot based on viewer position, and Room Calibration Pro, which analyses room acoustics and applies AI-driven tuning. The H7 is powered by LG’s Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen 3—the same platform used in its flagship OLED TVs—supporting features such as AI Sound Pro+ up-mixing and object-based audio separation for improved clarity.

Lee Jeong-seok, head of the LG Media Entertainment Solution Company’s Audio Business Division, said the collaboration reflects a shared focus on flexibility and personalisation:

Together with Dolby, we’re bringing audio flexibility to every home. By integrating Dolby Atmos FlexConnect with LG Sound Suite’s wireless modular design and AI-driven tuning, consumers can personalise their setup and enjoy cinematic sound from any seat.

All speakers in the Sound Suite use drivers from Peerless, a long-established name in loudspeaker design. While LG is positioning this as a step change in simplicity and flexibility, real-world performance will ultimately determine whether FlexConnect can deliver consistent, convincing Atmos results across varied living spaces.

LG will formally showcase the Sound Suite during CES 2026, taking place from January 6 to 9. Pricing, regional availability, and full specifications have yet to be announced, but the concept signals a clear shift toward immersive audio systems that adapt to the room, rather than the room being built around the system.
