Klipsch Reboots Its Powered Speaker Line for the Streaming Era

Klipsch has revealed the next generation of its powered speaker lineup at CES 2026, introducing The Fives II, The Sevens II and The Nines II.

The updated range represents a significant evolution of the company’s all-in-one stereo concept, combining Klipsch’s horn-loaded acoustic heritage with a new electronics platform developed in partnership with Onkyo.

The new models build on the success of the original Fives, Sevens and Nines by integrating a redesigned amplifier and processing architecture engineered by Onkyo in Osaka, Japan. Klipsch says the move brings AV receiver-grade design principles into a two-speaker system, with the goal of delivering higher performance, broader connectivity and improved reliability without increasing system complexity.

Acoustically, the new series features a reengineered cabinet and baffle design. Each model uses a single-piece BMC baffle with an integrated Tractrix horn, paired with Klipsch’s Jet Cerametallic woofers. Specifically, there is a 5.25-inch version for The Fives II, a 6.5-inch version for The Sevens II and an 8-inch version for The Nines II. According to Klipsch, the denser baffle structure reduces unwanted resonance, while the curved geometry is intended to improve dispersion and minimise diffraction, resulting in a wider and more controlled soundstage.

In addition to the hardware changes, the second-generation models lean heavily into immersive audio and room optimisation. All three speakers support Dolby Atmos, while The Nines II adds DTS:X compatibility. The Sevens II and The Nines II also introduce Dirac Live Room Correction (Limited Bandwidth), allowing users to calibrate the speakers to their listening environment using the supplied measurement microphone and the Klipsch Connect Plus app.

Connectivity has also been reworked with inputs including HDMI 2.1 with eARC, optical, coaxial digital, analogue line-in, USB-C playback and a subwoofer output. A built-in phono stage across all models allows direct connection of a turntable, while The Nines II goes a step further with the addition of balanced XLR inputs. This positions it as a potential studio or hybrid home/pro monitoring solution.

There is also now extensive streaming support with built-in compatibility for Google Cast, Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect and Roon Ready. High-resolution audio playback is supported up to 24-bit/96kHz, and The Sevens II and The Nines II offer an optional wireless link between left and right speakers to simplify placement.

Control is handled via the updated Klipsch Connect Plus app, which manages streaming, inputs, presets and Dirac calibration, while physical interaction hasn’t been overlooked. Each model features a redesigned top panel with metal controls and a tactile volume wheel, complemented by a backlit remote for low-light operation.

Visually, the range expands with a new Red Oak veneer paired with a white baffle, alongside traditional Walnut and Ebony finishes. All models remain compatible with Klipsch’s existing KS speaker stands.

Klipsch COO Vinny Bonacorsi described the new lineup:

Celebrating 80 years of Klipsch, we’re not just updating our powered speakers — we’re resetting the standard for what a simple two-speaker system can deliver.

Whether the result lives up to that ambition will depend on how well the new electronics platform, immersive formats and room correction integrate in real-world use — something we’d be interested to put to the test as the new models become available.

The Fives II, The Sevens II and The Nines II will be available from authorised Klipsch retailers between March and May 2026. Pricing is set at US$1,399 per pair for The Fives II, US$1,999 per pair for The Sevens II and US$2,399 per pair for The Nines II, with regional availability to be confirmed.
