Kaleidescape Mini Terra Prime Touches Down with Silent, Solid-State Power

Kaleidescape has expanded its Terra Prime line with the Mini Terra Prime, a compact, solid-state movie server built to deliver the brand’s reference-level performance in a smaller, quieter package.

Announced in Mountain View, California, the Mini Terra Prime becomes Kaleidescape’s smallest server to date; yet, the company insists it maintains the speed, storage capability, and reliability expected from its flagship systems. The launch also follows several key developments for the brand this year, including the rollout of its AI-powered KAI discovery engine, signalling a clear push to refine both the hardware and software sides of the Kaleidescape ecosystem.

Positioned as an ideal partner for the brand’s Strato M and Strato E players which we reviewed earlier this year chairman and CEO Tayloe Stansbury commented on the release:
Mini Terra Prime is Kaleidescape’s most compact movie server, but it delivers a mighty punch: fast downloads, high-performance playback, and ample storage.

The key to the new model is 8TB of internal solid-state storage, enough for approximately 125 high-bitrate Kaleidescape 4K titles. Unlike streamed movies, which are heavily compressed by necessity, Kaleidescape’s downloads are typically ten times larger, retaining lossless audio and near-lossless video from studio masters. The Mini Terra Prime stores these locally to ensure flawless, dropout-free playback.

A 2.5GbE network interface allows a full 4K feature to download in as little as four minutes, while the server supports up to 25 simultaneous playbacks without quality loss. For larger homes or multi-room systems, this offers meaningful scalability.
The chassis mirrors that of the Strato M and Strato E players, utilising architectural-grade steel and a mosaic vent pattern for passive cooling. With no internal fan, the Mini Terra Prime operates in complete silence, a valuable trait for installations where equipment is located within living areas or dedicated cinemas.

Adding a Terra Prime server to a standalone Strato system also unlocks Kaleidescape’s fuller user experience, including the cover-shuffle and expanded list views that shine with larger libraries. Up to four Terra servers can be grouped alongside any number of Strato players for whole-home distribution.

The Mini Terra Prime is available now through authorised Kaleidescape dealers with regional pricing to be confirmed shortly.
