For the value-conscious folks, JBL has the Wave Series, which comes with three different earbuds, all offered at the same £41.99 price point. The Wave Buds is the standard bud-shaped earbud, while the Wave Beam is the stick-with-tip style and last but not least, the Wave Flex is an open-fit stick-style earbud. They’re not just different styles, though.

The Wave Buds and Wave Beam come with 8mm dynamic drivers, while the Wave Flex sports a 12mm driver. However, all three earbuds come with the same 32-hour battery life, with eight hours in the earbuds and an extra three charges in the case.

If you want earbuds that provide active noise cancellation (ANC), the JBL Tune Series would be the next step up. Again, this series has three earbuds, the Tune BudsTune Beam and Tune Flex, all at just £69.99. The styles are the same, with the Tune Buds being the bud-shaped earbuds and the Tune Beam being the stick-with-tip style. The Tune Flex is the open-fit stick-style earbud in the Tune Series.

Here, the specs differ a bit more. While all three earbuds come equipped with ANC and four microphones each, the Tune Buds come with a 10mm driver, Bluetooth 5.3 and IP54 dust and water resistance. On the other hand, the Tune Beam comes with a 6mm driver, Bluetooth 5.3 and IP54 dust and water resistance. The Tune Buds and Tune Beam have a total battery life of up to 48 hours, 12 hours in the earbuds and 36 hours in the case.

As for the Tune Flex, it comes with a 12mm driver, Bluetooth 5.2 and IPX4 water resistance. There’s up to 32 hours of total battery life, with eight hours in the earbuds and 24 hours in the case. All three of these Tune Series earbuds support multipoint connectivity, which is excellent for conveniently switching between two devices.

For a premium experience, the Live Series is the way to go. Priced at $199.95, the new Live Free 2 and Live Flex join the existing Live Pro 2. The Live Free 2 is the brand’s in-ear bud-style offering for the Live Series, with 10mm dynamic drivers, JBL’s True Adaptive Noise Cancelling, IPX5 water resistance and six microphones for noise cancelling and wind isolation. There’s up to 35 hours of total battery life, seven hours in the earbuds and an extra 28 hours in the case.

The JBL Live Flex is the open-fit earbuds in the range, equipped with 12mm neodymium drivers, Personi-Fi 2.0 audio customisation, True Adaptive Noise Cancelling, IP54 dust and water resistance, Bluetooth 5.3 and six microphones. JBL claims the earbuds will have up to 40 hours of total battery life, with eight hours in the earbuds and 32 hours in the case. The case is also Qi-compatible, with wireless quick charging providing an additional four hours in just 15 minutes.

JBL has done a great job simplifying its newest true wireless offerings, and it’ll certainly make things easier for prospective new customers to figure out which earbud model is right for them.
