HISENSE ANNOUNCES 100” 4K UHD SMART LASER TV

As well as showcasing its 2019 range of ULED 4K TVs, the massive 100-inch 4K Smart Laser TV will be the centre of attention with its tech that promises an entertainment experience in any home by combining cinema grade technology and sophisticated smarts.

Let's be clear though, technically it's not a TV. Instead, it's an ultra-short throw laser projector - technology we've seen before from Epson, Mitsubishi and others. What is also not clear is whether it's true 4K, or using pixel shifting to achieve 4K resolution.

But we're not taking anything away from Hisense. The brand has developed a proprietary  X-Fusion Laser Light Engine which combines two independent lasers "to accurately display a wide array of colours and hues to create a new standard in home cinema."

Projecting over 8-million pixels to the 100-inch screen in HDR, Hisense says "the TV creates a stunningly vibrant picture with incredible depth."

Equally as important for an immersive entertainment experience is the sound, and Hisense has not overlooked this crucial component. In partnership with JBL, the 4K Dual Colour Laser TV includes 14 built-in speakers and a wireless subwoofer. The central projection unit sites below the screen like a traditional soundbar so is in an ideal position to reproduce the audio soundtrack.

With a built-in TV tuner, Hisense also says customers will have access to hundreds of applications including Netflix, Stan, and YouTube.

The central unit, or 'console' as Hisense calls it, can project the image from just 19cms from the wall. A lightweight panel mounted to the wall weighs only one-tenth of a similarly sized LED TV making installation a breeze.

Hisense says the 100" 4K Dual Colour Laser TV will become available to Australian customers this year. Pricing has been rumoured to be around $10,000, which will likely prove a bitter pill to swallow compared to a traditional projector.
