Harman International, a wholly owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., has announced that it has completed the acquisition of Sound United, the former consumer audio business of Harman International, from Masimo Corporation.

Sound United's collection of iconic audio brands, which includes Bowers & Wilkins, Denon, Marantz, Definitive Technology, Polk Audio, HEOS, Classé, and Boston Acoustics, is now joining Harman's leading audio brands, including AKG, Harman Kardon, Infinity, JBL, Lexicon, Mark Levinson, Revel, and Roon.

Harman states that this is a "strategic milestone" and marks a significant expansion in Harman's core audio business, encompassing key product categories such as home audio, electronics, headphones, and car audio. We are reminded that more than 50 million vehicles on the road today are equipped with Harman audio and connected car systems.

With Sound United's roster, Harman has an enviable audio portfolio and promises to bring consumers "more choice, deeper innovation, and exceptional experiences across listening environments."

Dave Rogers, President, Lifestyle Division, Harman, told StereoNET:

HARMAN's vision is to create experiences that enrich people's lives through exceptional audio experiences. Sound United's impressive roster of brands is rooted in a deep passion for sound, innovation, and commitment to quality that aligns with Harman's own values. This transaction unlocks meaningful growth opportunities for everyone.

Sound United will operate as a standalone Strategic Business Unit (SBU) within Harman's Lifestyle Division. We are told that this will ensure each brand's heritage, expertise, and loyal customer base remain central to their identity, while leveraging Harman's global resources and scale.

Meanwhile, the newly added brands, expertise, and talent from Sound United will accelerate Harman's advancements in audio technology, broaden market presence, and reinforce its position as a trusted global leader at the intersection of sound, culture, and technology.
