Grado has unveiled its new Classic Series of wired headphones. This line consolidates many of the company’s most recognisable headphone models while making a clearer demarcation between these and models in the Signature Line.

Moreover, the Classic Series benefits from upgraded drivers, cable assemblies and “refined build components,” says the Brooklyn-based outfit.

The headline news is that the seven models now gathered as the Classic Series all feature Grado’s X2 driver platform, developed to deliver what Grado describes as "improved consistency, control, and refinement" alongside "greater clarity, extension, and balance".

The X2 driver is built around a mylar diaphragm, a copper voice coil, and a rare-earth magnet, with Grado stating its design is “engineered for efficiency and control.” Depending on the headphone model you are looking at, it will feature a 52mm, 50mm, or 44mm driver.

We’re told that each model is tuned to its respective housing, with Grado promising an "open, dynamic, and engaging presentation" across the line-up without spoiling the exciting, dynamic sound fans expect.

The series' cable design has also been updated, drawing on developments from Grado's premium Signature line, and promises to be lighter, more flexible, and more durable.

Comfort is said to be improved through refined headband designs across the range, which also promise enhanced long-term durability while maintaining Grado’s industrial aesthetic.

The new Classic series will be available from late March and consists of the following:
- Grado Classic GS3000: £1,995 | US$1,995
- Grado Classic GS1000: £1,195 | US$1,195
- Grado Classic RS1: £750 | US$750
