Gold Note's Vasari Shibata moving magnet cartridge joins the Vasari Gold and Red offerings from the Italian audio firm.

As the name suggests, the Vasari Shibata features a diamond stylus cut following the design of Shibata, a Japanese scientist in the 70s. Despite its high-frequency capabilities, the upshot is that a Shibata-shaped stylus gives less record wear than other stylus shapes.

The Gold Note Shibata cartridge also sports an "ultra-rigid" and lightweight aluminium cantilever attached to a motor system made of an alnico magnet and a copper wire coil resulting in a claimed output level of 4mV with a 47kΩ suggested load. This is housed in a high-damping Duraluminium body which, all together, weighs in at 9.5g. Gold Note recommends a 2g tracking weight.

We are told that the Gold Note Shibata has a 10Hz-30kHz frequency response and > 25dB channel separation.
The Vasari cartridge is also available in the two original models, the Gold made of a duralumin body and the Red made of a special ultra-damping photopolymer body. Both also feature an output level of 4mV.

The Gold Note Vasari Shibata MM Cartridge is available now, priced at €690 RRP.
