Fyne Audio’s New F500S Series Gains More Performance at the Same Price

More from the StereoNET team at the Bristol Hi-Fi Show, where Fyne Audio has taken the wraps off its latest lineup, the F500S Series.

Positioned as a step up from the well-regarded F500 range, the new models promise significant sonic and aesthetic refinements while maintaining the same price point. How often do you hear of that?

Scottish loudspeaker specialist Fyne Audio has built a reputation around its proprietary IsoFlare point-source driver technology, and the new F500S lineup takes that approach further. The range comprises five models designed to cater to different listening preferences, starting with the compact 5-inch IsoFlare bookshelf F5S and moving up to the F500S, a 6-inch stand-mounted speaker. Floorstanding options include the 2 x 6-inch F501S and the larger 2 x 8-inch F502S, offering more scale and bass presence. Rounding out the lineup is the F500S LCR, designed for horizontal, vertical, or wall-mounted use, featuring two 6-inch drivers and an Auxiliary Bass Radiator (ABR) to optimise performance in various setups.

Advancing from the original F500 Series, the F500S models are engineered for improved stereo imaging, enhanced dispersion, and a more refined overall sound. Key to this evolution is the integration of an updated neodymium high-frequency magnet with a vented rear chamber designed to reduce resonance and improve clarity. The 25mm magnesium HF diaphragm offers self-damping properties, pushing breakup modes beyond 30kHz for a smoother high-frequency response. The waveguides have also been re-engineered with a unique expansion pattern and geometry, eliminating internal reflections and ensuring more even off-axis performance.

The bass and midrange performance has not been overlooked either. Each driver features a multifibre cone selected for its natural tonality and predictable response, while Fyne Audio's signature FyneFlute roll surround aims to control unwanted resonances and deliver clean transients. The company’s patented BassTrax™ Tractrix Diffuser System remains a core element of the F500S floorstanding and standmount designs, directing bass energy into a controlled 360-degree dispersion pattern that minimises sensitivity to room placement. For the F500S LCR model, however, BassTrax has been replaced with a motor-damped ABR to optimise its performance for different mounting positions.

Aesthetically, Fyne Audio has opted for premium build quality across the range. The cabinets are constructed from high-rigidity MDF, with finishing options that include real wood veneers and high-gloss piano lacquer. Additional refinements, such as robust bi-wire binding posts, stabilising plinths, and magnetic rear grille storage on floorstanding models, reinforce the brand’s attention to detail.
Based on the company’s claims, Fyne Audio appears to have delivered notable improvements over the F500 range while keeping the same price points, a rarity in today’s market. We look forward to spending more time with the F500S range and putting it through its paces to see how it truly performs.

The Fyne Audio F500S Series is set to land in Spring 2025, with UK & US pricing set at F5S standmounts (£600/US$799.99), F500S standmounts (£800/US$999.99), F501S floorstanders (£1700/US$2249.99), 502S floorstanders (£2300/US$2999.99), F500S LCR (£500/US$649.99). Pricing and availability in other regions have not yet been confirmed.
