Franco Serblin Accordo Goldberg Loudspeakers Borrow From Bach

Franco Serblin's Italian-crafted Accordo Goldberg standmount loudspeakers are a larger variation.
The Accordo Goldberg takes its inspiration from Franco Serblin's Accordo standmount loudspeaker and enlarges it whilst also taking its name from Bach's Goldberg Variations.

Franco Serblin founded Sonus faber, bringing the craftsmanship of fine Italian furniture and musical instrument making to speaker design, resulting in models featuring curved cabinet walls, exotic wood and Italian leather. Serblin sold Sonus faber in 2006 and began creating speakers under his name. He passed away in 2013, but the brand that bears his name – now under the stewardship of his son-in-law – continues his legacy. We are told that he left many drawings of concepts yet to be brought into existence and that the new Accordo Goldberg is one such design.

This larger Accordo standmount speaker joins the likes of the Accordo Essence floorstander we reviewed last year and incorporates a 29mm silk dome tweeter by Ragnar Lian and a 180mm mid/bass driver with a microsphere cone and aluminium dust cap.
The drivers are wrapped in a solid walnut 40.5 x 24 x 43cm (HxWxD) cabinet inspired by the design of fine stringed instruments; its asymmetric shape and aluminium-magnesium decouplers promise to eradicate the sonically deleterious effects of internal standing waves and cabinet resonance.

We are informed that this design has a quoted frequency response of 39Hz-23kHz, 2.83V1m:87 dB sensitivity and 7-ohm nominal impedance.
The Accordo Goldberg, of course, features signature Serblin touches such as an etched chrome and 'string' grille.

The Franco Serblin Accordo Goldberg is available in the UK from January 2024 at an RRP of £8,888 per pair. The matching 74cm tall floor stands, precisely tailored for a perfect fit, are priced at £2,798 per pair.
