Focal and Naim Reimagine the Mu-so with the Explosive Hekla System

Focal has lifted the lid on Mu-so Hekla, a striking new all-in-one wireless system that blends the brand’s French acoustic expertise with Naim Audio’s British engineering precision.

Named after Iceland’s famous volcano, Hekla promises to erupt into living rooms with an immersive, Dolby Atmos-driven soundstage and a sculpted industrial aesthetic. Launched in Seoul, South Korea, the Mu-so Hekla marks the latest evolution of the celebrated Mu-so line — and the first time Focal has formally taken lead branding on the series. A global release will follow in early 2026, with appearances confirmed for CES 2026 (Las Vegas) and ISE 2026 (Barcelona).

Built from anodised aluminium and finished with elegant perforated grillework, the Mu-so Hekla packs 15 speaker drivers and 660 watts of Class-D power, tuned to comfortably energise rooms up to 40 m². Focal says its intelligent room-adapting calibration tailors the system’s tonal balance for each environment, delivering what it calls “excellence made simple.” It’s a design that channels both refinement and raw output — a balance the brand likens to the natural force of its volcanic namesake.

Leveraging Dolby Atmos technology, the company claims that the Mu-so Hekla produces a three-dimensional soundstage that can envelop listeners in spatial detail. Whether playing films, music, or games, Focal says the system delivers “breathtaking spatial audio,” bringing cinematic scale to any living space.

Behind the acoustic muscle lies the combined expertise of Focal and its sister company Naim Audio, which developed the digital architecture and amplification. Together, they’ve engineered a compact unit designed to blur the line between home cinema and high-end hi-fi.

Connectivity has been equally considered. Mu-so Hekla offers HDMI eARC, Optical TOSLINK, RCA, and subwoofer outputs, making it as comfortable under a TV as it is serving as a standalone music hub. Wireless streaming is supported via AirPlay, Google Cast, and Bluetooth, while network access is handled through Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Users can control playback through the Focal & Naim app, voice assistants, smartwatches, or even home automation systems, underscoring Focal’s aim of effortless integration into modern living.

The Focal Mu-so Hekla is priced at €3,300 | US$3,600 | £3,000 and will be available exclusively through the Focal Powered by Naim retail network. According to information to hand at the time of writting, initial availability is currently limited to South Korea and China, with a global rollout scheduled to begin in Q1 2026.
