Just announced in Tokyo and the UK, the DX3000CL marks the first closed-back entry in the line—arriving after the open-back DX6000, which we reported on when it debuted with its magnesium driver innovation—and suggests Final is now broadening the appeal of its purist engineering approach.

Final says the DX Series was originally created to bring the brand’s high-end acoustic philosophy to a dynamic-driver platform. With the DX3000CL, that concept extends into a sealed design for listeners who want isolation without sacrificing the sense of openness and tonal subtlety that characterise the flagship. Developed entirely in Japan, the DX3000CL aims to preserve the warmth, realism and midrange clarity associated with the brand, but with a revised tuning and lighter, more compact construction.

At its core is a 40mm paper–carbon composite dynamic driver, engineered for speed and texture while avoiding the harshness sometimes associated with rigid materials. A free-edge surround structure helps suppress unwanted resonance, allowing the diaphragm to move more linearly and contributing to what Final describes as “effortless, natural sound reproduction.” The enclosure, damping scheme and tactile finish were all designed in-house by Final’s Japanese engineering team, reinforcing the idea that even this more affordable model retains the meticulous craftsmanship expected of the brand.

Comfort has also been prioritised. The lightweight chassis, softly padded earpads and carefully controlled headband pressure are intended to support long listening sessions without fatigue. Despite its closed-back architecture, the company says the DX3000CL maintains a sense of openness while providing meaningful isolation, making it suitable for home, studio or portable use—areas where the DX6000’s open design was less adaptable.

Final maintains that its tuning philosophy avoids exaggerated peaks or artificial detail. Instead, the company focuses on how the driver naturally behaves within the housing and how faithfully it can translate the intention of the recording. The Paper–Carbon diaphragm composition, internal chamber geometry and overall acoustic scheme are all the result of extensive testing, aimed at delivering music with emotional credibility rather than clinical precision.

The Final DX3000CL is available now via selected retailers and priced at £579.99 | €599.99 | US$599.99.
