Following on from the impressive work performed to create the Kingswood Warren LS3/5a, Falcon Acoustics has used the last couple of years to develop the Falcon LS3/5a Gold Badge. This is a true British-made classic 15 ohm LS3/5a that continues the long tradition of the genuine British BBC-Licenced LS3/5a stretching back to the 1960s.

Falcon Acoustics' Gold Badge LS3/5a uses components sourced entirely from UK/EU along with a new FL6/23 crossover which does the business at 3Khz.

Jerry Bloomfield told StereoNET:
Using the experience gained from our work on the Kingswood Warren LS3/5a crossover, we decided to follow the same design path for a newly re-designed 15 ohm FL6/23 LS3/5a crossover. It features a new multilayer PCB using upgraded larger BBC transformer inductors, giving better saturation characteristics, enhanced bass and lower distortion. The capacitors are also up-rated Falcon UK-made polypropylene types for greater sonic accuracy and definition.
The drive units are the renowned, handmade in Britain, Falcon B110, and the Falcon T27 tweeter. The drivers are both designed by Malcolm Jones, the original designer of the KEF B110 and KEF T27 that were specified in the now-famous 15 ohm LS3/5a designed by the BBC.
The matched 15 ohm BBC spec FL6/23 filter networks are made exclusively by Falcon in the original transformer-style and contain inductors specially made in Britain for Falcon.
The result is a quoted frequency response of 70Hz – 20kHz ± 3dB and 83dB for 2.83V @ 1m sensitivity
The handmade cabinets are of specially selected graded Baltic Ply and use selected-grade Beech fillets. They are available in Cherry, Walnut, Rosewood, Burr Walnut, and Yew natural wood veneers with a Tygan Cloth front grille.
Falcon Acoustics LS3/5a's are sold in matched pairs and are supplied with an Individually Numbered Certificate of Authenticity and a 5 year guarantee.
Make your own Falcon Speakers
The Bristol Show also sees the debut of the company's new line of Falcon Plug-and-Play kits.

The first kit, dubbed the IMF100, will cost £1495 and is a quarter-wave transmission line system, featuring Falcon's 5-inch B110 bass and T27 tweeter. The cabinets are built from 12mm, and 9mm Baltic Ply veneered in real walnut (Rosewood will be available as an extra-cost option).
No soldering is required, and everything is pre-assembled and colour coded. We are told that there will also be an online manual and assembly video guide.
Jerry Bloomfield states that "We estimate less than an hour to assemble a fully working pair of loudspeakers."
You can also expect more kits to become available during the year.
