Exposure Electronics has added mono power amplifiers to its flagship 5510 Series, promising greater scale, grip and refinement from the company’s latest high-end amplifier platform.

Designed to partner the 5510 preamplifier, the new 5510 mono power amplifiers create a three-chassis amplifier system aimed at listeners looking for maximum transparency, authority and musical engagement from Exposure’s current range. The company says every part of the design works to reduce noise, improve stability and keep the performance composed even when driving demanding loudspeakers.

At the heart of each mono amplifier is a large, custom-made toroidal transformer partnered with high-quality screw-terminal smoothing capacitors. Exposure has also specified an all-bipolar transistor circuit using carefully selected components and a fully DC-coupled topology, with the amplifiers engineered to handle difficult, low-impedance loudspeaker loads without drama.

Protection is handled by a non-invasive overload circuit and a thermal trip, while connectivity covers both balanced and unbalanced inputs. Around the back, bi-wire speaker outputs use high-quality shrouded 4mm sockets, and the electronics are housed in resonance-controlling, all-aluminium casework finished in black. The amplifiers are backed by a three-year manufacturer’s guarantee.

The result is intended to be a muscular yet controlled flagship system that keeps Exposure’s familiar emphasis on musical flow while adding the headroom and grip expected of a high-power mono design.

Each 5510 mono power amplifier is rated at 200W into 8 ohms and 370W into 4 ohms. The input impedance is quoted at 75kΩ at 1kHz via the unbalanced input, while the frequency response is specified at –3dB at 52kHz, referenced to 1kHz.

Total harmonic distortion is listed at less than 0.015% at 1kHz when delivering 200W into 8 ohms, falling to less than 0.005% at 1kHz at 100W into the same load. The signal-to-noise ratio is rated at greater than 120dB A-weighted, referenced to 200W into 8 ohms, or greater than 100dB A-weighted when referenced to 1W into 8 ohms.

The chassis measures 115 x 440 x 300mm [HxWxD], with each amplifier weighing 14 kg.

The Exposure 5510 mono power amplifier is available now, priced at £7,300 per pair.
