The ES-28N is the brand's third new model. This three-way floorstander follows the ES-14N, which debuted at the Munich show in 2022, and the ES-7N, which premiered in Bristol a year later.

We're told that the typical 2 or 2.5-way solution comprising two bass drivers and one tweeter did not appeal to the Essen-based designers, resulting in the ES-28N becoming what Epos states as "a purebred 3-way box with crossover frequencies of just under 300Hz and 2,800Hz".

The two Epos siblings contributed to the basic construction of the ES-28N drivers, with the bass drivers sharing the basket and magnet system with the ES14N. However, the membrane and surround were optimised for the 3-way task.

Meanwhile, the 130mm midrange driver was donated by the ES-7N, and apparently, only minor changes were necessary to cover the midrange optimally. The tweeter from the smaller models also features in the 28N and remains unchanged.

As with all the Epos models, the ES-28N cabinet consists of double MDF panels plus a damping layer, with the front panel contributing 50mm in thickness for further stabilisation.

The midrange driver operates in its own enclosure, with the crossover also receiving a separate volume to mitigate high sound pressures from inducing vibrations in the components.

The Epos ES-28N will be previewed at High End Munich 2024. Delivery is planned for the fourth quarter of 2024, and the MSRP is expected to be €8,000.
