Dorpo DMP-A1 Digital Music Player Gunning For Established Brands

Dorpo’s DMP-A1 is vying for your desk space with a compelling combination of high-performance music streamer, digital audio player, DAC, pre-amplifier, and headphone amplifier.

The DMP-A1 boasts lossless playback up to 32-bit/768kHz and supports FLAC, WAV, APE and MQA decoding, as well as DSD files up to DSD512 (native), including DSF, DFF, SACD ISO and DST.

It also has you covered for streaming services. The DMP-A1 integrates Tidal, Spotify, Qobuz, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Highresaudio. Moreover, it is Roon Ready and supports Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect, Qobuz Connect, AirPlay, DLNA, and Bluetooth (Qualcomm QCC5181). However, we are told that not all streaming services will be available at launch. Some will be added over time as certification progresses via over-the-air firmware updates. We assume this may affect various territories differently.

The DMP-A1 doesn’t skimp on connectivity, either. The rear panel includes optical, coaxial, asynchronous USB, and ARC inputs, along with coax and optical outputs. The player also offers RCA and XLR analogue outputs.

An ESS ES9039SPro chip does the digital-to-analogue heavy lifting for the DMP-A1. It is apparently partnered with a high-precision, low-jitter dual clock. Dorpo says this setup should result in “remarkably low distortion and noise, resulting in crystal-clear audio and an exceptional high-fidelity music experience.”

There is also a powerful third-generation XMOS XU316 audio processor, promising outstanding processing speed and high USB bandwidth.

We’re told that the player’s fully balanced analogue circuitry, including the DAC to analogue output pathways, are processed by a fully balanced differential amplifier circuit. This, says Dorpo, eliminates crosstalk from a common ground loop, resulting in marked improvements in channel separation and noise resistance, delivering a clearer, more defined audio. The fully balanced pre-amp circuit provides accurate volume control, enabling direct connection to a power amplifier or active speakers.

The DMP-A1 uses a dual-power-supply system. It features "Dorpo’s dedicated high-performance linear power supply" for the audio circuits. A separate low-noise switching power supply powers the digital circuitry. The company states that this setup ensures optimal performance. It also allows the DMP-A1 to automatically adapt to worldwide mains-voltage standards. This eliminates the need to manually match the input voltage.

For personal listening, the DMP-A1 features a dedicated headphone amplifier circuit with both 6.35mm and balanced 4.4mm outputs, and it caters to most headphones, from low to high impedance (16-300 ohms).

As well as streaming, the DMP-A1 supports a variety of USB drives and network storage devices, whilst also boasting a built-in slot for a high-speed M.2 NVME 3.0 2280 SSD, up to 8TB. When used with compatible audio devices, the handy 12V trigger input and output allow the whole system to be turned on or off directly from the DMP-A1 with a single click.

The DMP-A1 runs a customised FunplayUI operating system based on Android 12, promising a user-friendly interface and features such as on-screen mirroring and remote control via a smartphone or tablet. Additionally, the device can be controlled via its own five-inch high-definition LCD touchscreen.

All that tech is housed in a thick, precision-machined aluminium chassis with a frosted metal finish. A smooth volume dial with a customisable LED light ring adds visual flair.

The Dorpo DMP-A1 will be available in the UK and across Europe early Q2, 2026, at an SRP of £1,799 inc VAT | €1,764 ex local taxes.
