dCS Transports CD/SACDs to its Varèse Music System

dCS adds the dCS Varèse Transport to its Varèse Music System, adding dedicated CD/SACD playback.
The new dCS Varèse Transport joins the Varèse Core, User Interface, dual Mono DACs, Master Clock, Varèse Remote, and Mosaic ACTUS app in the British firm's top-flight streaming system, which we saw in an exclusive preview.

Since 2000, dCS has been producing CD and SACD transports, starting with the Verdi. Many listeners still appreciate playback from physical discs, whether due to their substantial collections or the unavailability of recordings in other formats.

The latest in this long line of high-end disc spinners is the Varèse Transport, engineered to deliver high-quality performance for both Redbook CDs and SACDs, playing them in their native formats.
The Varèse Transport was unveiled at the recent Hong Kong show (above) and features a new chassis design crafted from a single aluminium billet with constrained layer damping.

The mechanism mounts are also milled from solid aluminium, eliminating joins or fixings. This construction minimises noise and vibration, ensuring stable playback.

The Transport connects to the Varèse Core via the custom dCS ACTUS interface using a single cable. This allows for bit-perfect audio signal transmission while automatically synchronising to a master clock signal through the Core or Varèse Clock.

You can control playback through the Varèse User Interface, the Varèse Remote, or the Mosaic ACTUS app.

The Transport plays CDs in their native 44.1kS/s format and SACDs in native DSD. It employs the same mechanism found in the Vivaldi Transport II and Applause Award-winning Rossini Transport, but uses a new mounting method to further reduce vibration. dCS claims this is its quietest and lowest-vibration Transport to date.

The dCS Varèse Transport is now available for orders globally, with shipments beginning at the end of September 2025, priced at £35,000.
