The new model will be showcased in an active system on the show floor, where it is positioned as the intended partner for the Momentum Z monoblock amplifiers, a pairing designed to fully realise the capabilities of the company’s latest Z circuitry.

It follows on from the Z platform introduced with the Momentum Z amplifiers we covered earlier this year, and suggests a broader move towards tighter system integration across the lineup.

Rather than replacing the existing Momentum C2, the new C2Z is positioned as a complementary design, one engineered to optimise the electrical interface between preamplifier and power amplifier, with the goal of improving overall system performance.

At the centre of the update is a reworked output stage. The C2Z introduces a current-capable field-effect transistor (FET) design, allowing the preamplifier to deliver significantly higher current to the amplifier stage, improving stability and control across the signal path.

That change is designed to work in tandem with the Z amplifier’s revised input topology, which departs from conventional high-impedance FET designs by lowering input impedance to draw more current from the preamplifier. In practice, this creates a more tightly coupled interface between components, with the aim of improving transient response, dynamic contrast and overall system resolution.

Founder Dan D’Agostino describes the approach as a move towards a more direct connection between stages:

With the C2Z upgrade, we set out to do more than refine an already exceptional platform—we wanted to fully exploit the performance of the Momentum Z Monoblock circuitry. We have created a more direct and optimised connection between the preamplifier and the amplifier.

While the technical focus is on current delivery and interface optimisation, the intended outcome centres on improved low-frequency control and low-level resolution. According to the company, bass performance in particular benefits from greater texture and dimensionality, especially at lower listening levels where detail can often diminish.

Seen in context, the C2Z continues a pattern across the Momentum range, where recent updates, including the Momentum Z amplifiers and the MXV integrated, have focused less on standalone components and more on how those components operate together as a complete system.

The Momentum C2Z Preamplifier is available now, with further details, including pricing and regional availability, expected to be confirmed through local distributors.
