For many music lovers and home entertainment enthusiasts across Melbourne, Carlton Audio Visual is something of an institution, making the evening a fitting backdrop for both the JBL debut and the unveiling of the retailer’s newly expanded showroom spaces.

The family-run business has spent decades building a reputation not just as a high-end hi-fi retailer, but as a destination for thoughtfully designed audio systems, advanced home control integration and practical, real-world installation expertise. If you've visited the Lygon Street store before, then now is the time to visit again - they've moved into brand new premises just a few doors down.

The invite-only VIP evening will allow guests to experience JBL’s most ambitious residential loudspeakers to date in a purpose-built listening environment. First revealed internationally at High End Munich last year, and later demonstrated at the Melbourne Hi-Fi Show, the JBL Summit Series represents the latest evolution of the brand’s high-performance loudspeaker design. Developed at JBL’s renowned Acoustic Centre of Excellence in Northridge, California, the range draws on patented and proprietary technologies intended to deliver reference-level clarity, dynamics and control in the home.

Speaking ahead of the event, Director of Carlton Audio Visual, Rab Turner, said the evening reflects both the scale of the JBL launch and the retailer’s broader philosophy:
We’re incredibly excited to be launching the JBL Summit Series here in Australia and giving customers the chance to really experience what these loudspeakers can do. It’s also a great opportunity for people to see our updated showroom spaces and how we continue to evolve the way we present high-end audio and home systems.

Turner added that the event will also mark the debut of a new dedicated space within the store:
We’re especially proud of our new upstairs area, which we’re calling The Ballroom. This purpose-built event space allows us to host experiences like the JBL Summit launch properly so that people can get up close and personal with the equipment, the systems, and the ideas behind them.

Carlton Audio Visual’s approach remains distinctive in today’s retail landscape. The business combines a strong in-store presence with deep expertise in home automation, control programming, and IT convergence, while maintaining a deliberately non-commissioned sales model that prioritises honest, unbiased advice. Still family-owned and operated, spanning two generations of both the Turner and Eliopoulos families, the team brings close to two centuries of combined industry experience across hi-fi, home cinema and integrated AV.

On the night, attendees will enjoy live demonstrations of the JBL Summit Series, along with drinks, nibbles, an exclusive 20 per cent discount, and yes, some of what the store quietly claims is among the best coffee in Melbourne. With places strictly limited, advance registration is essential. Full event details and tickets for the February 5 launch are available via the link below.
