Bristol Hi-Fi Show: Wilson Benesch x Trilogy x CAD Collaborate

A trio of high-end British brands combine for what promises to be an exemplary system at Bristol 2026.
Wilson Benesch, Trilogy Audio Systems and Computer Audio Design (CAD) join forces to demonstrate two models from Wilson Benesch’s Fibonacci Series loudspeaker range.

The plan is to present a standmount pair of loudspeakers in the morning and floorstanders from the same range in the afternoon so that visitors can appreciate the difference between the two designs.
For the impact to be fully apparent to even casual listeners, the source and amplification need to be transparent and have enough headroom to accommodate both loudspeaker pairings.

To this end, Trilogy Audio Systems has been invited to supply its legendary Trilogy 925 integrated amplifier to drive the main demonstration system. Beneath its fine bead-blasted aluminium casement, the 925’s balanced input stage uses the 6H6П super tube to provide pure triode Class A, zero-feedback voltage gain with exceptional linearity. The output stage features Troligy’s zero-feedback bridged MOSFET and bipolar topology, delivering 135W of power.

The amplifier is fully symmetrical inside and out, with the British amp brand underlining that the signal positive and signal negative are never tied to ground in the 925.
The Trilogy 925 integrated will be fed by a CAD 1543 DAC Mk3 and ground control, delivering its acclaimed warmth and clarity.
The CAD 1543 MKIII DAC has been designed to accommodate music servers and features a NOS (Non-Over-Sampling) Resistor Ladder architecture. The London, UK-based company states it is “convinced that NOS, R2R DAC designs achieve a more realistic, natural musical experience than oversampling and/or Sigma Delta DAC technology.” The CAD 1543 MKIII DAC is so-called because it uses twenty vintage Philips TDA1543 DAC Resistor Ladder Integrated Circuits.

The CAD 1543 MKIII DAC also employs an Asynchronous USB Interface, which controls the timing and clocking of data transfer independently of the audio server. This is said to reduce timing (jitter) and noise issues. CAD also implements Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD) technology for the USB Interface because, according to the manufacturer, it uses substantially less current, operates at a lower speed, and produces less noise than XMOS and other USB designs it has tested.
The morning session will feature Wilson Benesch's Discovery 3zero, a compact standmount loudspeaker that serves as the entry point to the Wilson Benesch Fibonacci Series. Despite its smaller size, it incorporates the same underlying design principles and core technologies found across the range.

At 13:00 each day, Wilson Benesch will host a short presentation outlining the design philosophy behind the Fibonacci Series Loudspeakers. This will be followed by the transition from a standmount to a floorstanding loudspeaker using the same setup.
From mid-afternoon until close, the system will feature the Horizon floorstanding loudspeaker. As with the Discovery 3zero, the Horizon shares the same engineering foundations, differing primarily in scale and physical execution, offering visitors a direct comparison within the Wilson Benesch Fibonacci Series Loudspeakers lineup.

Both loudspeakers are built using bespoke components, with enclosures, drive units and tweeters designed and manufactured largely in-house. This vertically integrated approach underpins the Fibonacci Series Loudspeakers and ensures consistency of design intent across different models.

To hear this system in action with standmounts in the morning and floorstanders in the afternoon, head to the first-floor Conservatory at the Bristol HiFi Show 2026, 20-22 February.
