As a 4K DLP projector, the W4000i comes equipped with a Texas Instruments 0.65” DMD (Digital Micromirror Device) with a four-LED light source that boasts a quoted 3,200 ANSI Lumens and a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1 with the Dynamic Black setting enabled. The projector has a stated 20,000-hour lifespan in Normal and 30,000 hours in ECO Mode.

Dynamic Black is software-based dimming of the LED lights, resulting in faster results than a mechanical iris system. It’s used in conjunction with Local Contrast technologies in BenQ’s HDR Pro technology, which analyses the local brightness of multiple zones and adjusts the gamma of each zone independently. The W4000i also supports HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG content.
Jeffrey Liang, CEO of BenQ Asia Pacific, told StereoNET:
The W4000i delivers an unparalleled cinematic experience through the true 4K resolution combining our cutting-edge HDR-PRO and CinematicColor Technology, presenting images as directors envisioned. The certified Android TV comes with native Netflix and 5000+ other apps, redefining home entertainment for audiences

Each projector is colour-calibrated by BenQ at the factory to ensure colour accuracy out of the box, and the projector conforms to 100% Rec.709 HDTV colour space, the wider 100% DCI-P3 digital filmmaking colour spectrum and the BT.2020 ideal-color future standard.

Additionally, the W4000i comes equipped with Android TV thanks to an installed Android dongle, as well as the Netflix app pre-installed. On the rear, there are a variety of ports, including two HDMI ports, two USB Type-A ports, a RJ-45 LAN port, S/PDIF and more.

The projector has a 1.15 ~ 1.50 throw distance, which allows for it to fill a 100” screen from 2.5 metres. There’s also keystone correction, as well as 0% to 60% vertical and a maximum of ±15% horizontal lens shift.
