Audio-Technica AT-LPA2 - Clearly The Best AT Turntable Yet

Audio-Technica's new AT-LPA2 transparent turntable showcases design and pure analogue fidelity.
The fully manual AT-LPA2 turntable draws inspiration from the successful AT-LP2022, perfectly balancing "stunning contemporary aesthetics with exceptional sonic performance," says Audio-Technica.

Assembled from high-density transparent acrylic and "engineered for outstanding audio clarity," the AT-LPA2 features a 30mm transparent, high-density acrylic chassis and 20mm acrylic platter and tips the scales at 8.4kg.
We are told that this construction not only looks pretty cool but also provides exceptional resonance control, mitigating unwanted vibrations for remarkably clear playback.

The LAp2's belt-drive mechanism benefits from an optical sensor beneath the spindle. This monitors platter rotation to ensure accurate playback at 33-1/3 and 45 RPM.

Meanwhile, the transparent deck's external power supply and control unit isolates sensitive audio parts from potential electrical interference, preserving the clarity of your music.

Pre-fitted to the newly designed straight carbon-fibre tonearm is an Audio-Technica AT-OC9XEN dual moving coil cartridge featuring a 0.3 x 0.7 mil elliptical nude stylus and (0.35 mV) output voltage. While the AT-OC9XEN's stylus assembly is not field-replaceable, Audio-Technica offers a fee-based Moving Coil Exchange Program to properly service your moving coil cartridge.

With its nude elliptical stylus and high-purity PCOCC coils, this cartridge promises to capture every detail and nuance of a vinyl record with "stunning clarity, excellent channel separation, and low distortion."
The performance tonearm features adjustable VTA, azimuth adjustment, a finely adjustable string-type anti-skate mechanism, and interchangeable 110g and 130g counterweights for broader cartridge compatibility.

Finally, the AT-LP2A comes bundled with RCA cables, ground wire, a 45 RPM adapter, a removable dust cover, setup tools, and inspection gloves.
The Audio-Technica AT-LPA2 turntable will be available from May 15th 2025 and retail for £1,699 / €1,999.
