One of Australia’s most enduring and admired loudspeaker brands is set to make a strong statement at this year’s Melbourne Hi-Fi Show, offering showgoers an exclusive first look and listen to the brand’s newest creation — the Richter Dragon S7SE floorstander — in what will be its first public demonstration ahead of an official launch.

You’ll find Richter in Room M4, where the Sydney-based speaker maker will showcase a carefully curated line-up spanning its acclaimed Legend Series 6plus and a new Special Edition platform.

Leading the line-up is the Dragon S7SE, a hot-off-the-factory-floor floorstanding loudspeaker positioned as the middle model in the forthcoming Series 7 Special Edition range, including the Wizard S7SE and Excalibur S7SE. The Dragon S7SE is designed to build on Richter’s classic sound DNA while reaching new levels of refinement and performance.

While full specifications are still under wraps, Richter has confirmed several key design features, including a dual-chamber cabinet architecture, a real natural walnut veneer, and a more refined, less imposing visual footprint — all designed to blend more naturally into contemporary living spaces. The sound signature, meanwhile, promises to be “classic Richter but on another level”.
Brian Rodgers, Managing Director of Richter, told StereoNET:
We’re incredibly excited to debut the new Dragon S7SE at this year’s Stereo NET Hi-Fi Show. It marks a bold new chapter for Richter — not just with its striking visual presence, but with a significant leap in sonic performance. The Series 7 Special Edition is our statement range: refined, powerful, and unmistakably Richter.
Also on demonstration will be the compact Merlin S6plus stand mount, recently reviewed by StereoNET’s very own Editor-In-Chief, David Price, in his UK review. Joining it is the larger Wizard S6plus floor stander. Both are part of the current Legend Series 6plus range, which has earned wide acclaim for its musicality, dynamic agility, and exceptional value.

Supporting electronics will include Plinius amplification, with the highly regarded Plinius Haito integrated amplifier confirmed as the primary power source. Another as-yet-unannounced Plinius model is also tipped to be on display. Streaming duties will be handled by the newly released Bluesound ICON, reinforcing Richter’s commitment to delivering modern hi-fi with broad appeal and flexibility.

Richter’s return to the 2025 Melbourne Hi-Fi Show reinforces its reputation as one of Australia’s most respected loudspeaker brands. With over three decades of experience, the company remains committed to designing speakers that connect emotionally, sound honest, and suit real-world homes, all at pricing that reflects local values. From the compact Merlin to the debut of the Dragon S7SE, Richter’s line-up continues to resonate with music lovers and offers a compelling glimpse into the next evolution of the brand’s Special Edition range.
The StereoNET Hi-Fi & AV Show takes place August 29-31 at the Pullman Melbourne Albert Park. Full show details and tickets are available via the link below.
