The Australian debut marks Focal’s boldest move yet into the high-end active speaker space. StereoNET’s Jay Garrett attended a special UK preview last month, calling the Diva Mezza Utopia a “statement” loudspeaker that blends luxury craftsmanship with serious performance and next-gen wireless tech. As he noted from the West London launch, the system delivered “a clear midrange, detailed treble, and impactful low end… with plenty of slam and articulation”—but it was the dynamics and scale that left the strongest impression. Now, the system is headed down under for its Australian debut.

The Diva Mezza Utopia is more than just an evolution of Focal’s acclaimed Diva Utopia; it’s a no-compromise rethink of what a flagship loudspeaker can be in an increasingly wireless world. Making its local premiere exclusively in Premium Sound’s demo suite at Lake 4, the system blends cutting-edge convenience with hallmark Focal engineering—offering 500W of Class A/B power per speaker and room-filling sound for spaces up to 100m².
Rob Bergervoet, Store Manager at Premium Sound, told StereoNET:
We’re thrilled to bring this extraordinary speaker system to Australian audiophiles for the first time. The Diva Mezza Utopia perfectly embodies our commitment to offering the absolute best in high-end audio technology.
While the Diva Mezza Utopia may look like a classic Focal floorstander, it houses an impressive list of modern technologies. That includes Ultra Wideband (UWB) wireless audio transmission up to 96kHz/24-bit resolution, and full compatibility with smart home platforms including Control4, Crestron, Savant, and RTI. Drivers include a pure Beryllium inverted dome tweeter and Focal’s proprietary ‘W’ sandwich cone woofers. Adaptive room correction is built-in via ADAPT (Adaptive Acoustic Personal Tuning) technology. At the same time, rear I/O is as versatile as you’d find on a full hi-fi rack—think HDMI eARC, TOSLINK, RCA, USB-A, Ethernet, and high-resolution support up to 24-bit/384kHz.

With a larger cabinet—now 62 litres, up from the original Diva’s 50 litres—and 25% more power on tap, Focal aims to dominate the premium wireless speaker market with a solution that’s both future-facing and firmly rooted in acoustic engineering.
Premium Sound’s presence at this year’s show in suite Lake 4, extends beyond just product—it’s about presentation. The retailer recently completed a top-to-bottom renovation of its Melbourne showroom, crafted in collaboration with Focal and sister brand Naim. Purpose-built listening rooms and acoustically treated spaces now offer customers a high-end retail experience designed to match the calibre of the gear on display.

Bergervoet added:
Our renovation represents more than just a showroom upgrade – it signals our commitment to elevating the high-end audio retail experience in Australia. We’ve created spaces where premium equipment can be experienced as intended.
Premium Sound’s display will also feature Focal’s full headphone lineup—from the wireless Azurys to the flagship Utopia—giving visitors a chance to experience the brand’s acclaimed sound signature across both personal and loudspeaker formats. While the Diva Mezza Utopia will retail for A$110,000 exclusively through authorised Focal Powered by Naim dealers, the Melbourne Hi-Fi Show presents a rare opportunity to hear what this statement wireless speaker system can really do.
The StereoNET Hi-Fi & AV Show takes place August 29-31 at the Pullman Melbourne Albert Park. Full show details and tickets are available via the link below.
