ACTIVO Scoop IEMS Land With Double-Digit Price Tag

Astell&Kern’s more cost-conscious sub-brand, ACTIVO, has unleashed its third IEM, Scoop.

With this release, Scoop joins ACTIVO’s lineup, which already includes the P1 player, the pricier dual-driver ACTIVO Q1, and the now-discounted Volcano IEMs.

ACTIVO states that Scoop features a refined combination of three dynamic drivers (1 × 8mm, 2 × 6mm) and two balanced-armature drivers, promising a “natural sound signature that spans from a rich, full-bodied low end to crisp, articulate highs.”

To bring together all those drivers, ACTIVO uses a proprietary acoustic port structure with an integrated cable terminal circuit, which ensures a clean and stable signal across its claimed 20Hz-20kHz frequency response. Sensitivity is listed as 105dB/mW, while impedance is 10 Ohms.

Meanwhile, the ACTIVO Scoop’s streamlined exterior is designed to represent “the gentle, polished form of a pebble shaped by flowing water.”

The cable uses two-pin connectors, with silver-plated copper and oxygen-free copper, terminated at the source end with a 4-pin array that accepts the bundled 3.5mm, 4.4mm balanced, and USB-C interchangeable connectors.

Finally, the earphones also come with two sets of ear tips—silicone and memory foam options in S/M/L—and a travel pouch.

If ACTIVO’s Scoop perform as promised, it will make an excellent pairing with the brand’s exceptionally competent P1 player while not breaking the bank.
