 hi all
i recently bought an integrated amp from another SNA member,i have only in the last couple of weeks have installed it into my system, my concern is that on several occasions the amp has let out a loud crack through the speakers and shuts down i have since removed it in fear of damaging my speakers,i have contacted the seller in which he replied that it was working fine for him,
after doing some online research into this amp i find that the early production models had a design fault with the protection circuit which would cause this exact problem and that later models were rectified, if any one can help me with this can you PM me as i would rather keep this private as not to disclose the seller
i have tried to contact the manufacturer  who are in the USA  but have had no response as yet
any suggestions would be grateful
thanks.

Knowing the make and model of the amplifier would assist with someone being able to advise you about a solution.   Other likely causes are dry solder joints ,  intermittent connections and faulty switch contacts.

MAke and model?

Dry solder joints: with age, the solder dries out and crack. Amp heats up, and everything expands just a little. This opens any crack, and the solder now has a gap where previously it provided a signal path. Result = intermittent loss of sound. Technician has to soften/resolder every piece of solder in the unit. It's why an amp needs to be listened to for an hour or so before buying, or arrangements made with seller.
